Having now got the Montana Lake and love it (having just stood up to Monsoon type conditions in Cornwall) but its too much of a beast to put for weekends!
I have got an Icarus 500 for weekends but am tempted by the Yeomans offer on the Trout Lake for a weekender? It that still a faff to put up for a weekend. Have looked at the pitch video on Outwell. Its obviously more work than the Icarus to put up.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
Yeomans may have sold out as it is call them only. It might be worth considering the Kampa Frinton 4 classic it has straighter walls and more useable space and can be had for £382.22 or £429.99 with carpet and foot print (Depending if you like the colour...) Due to the sewn in ground sheet is quite quick to erect as well.
Is it really worth it for 1 or 2 nights when you already have an Icarus??

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
i have the bear lake 6 ... just like you said with your tent, lovely tent but too much for a weekend. but still love the polycotton and for me - the meta poles.
you see i had a vango orchy and it too was a fantastic size tent - actually was perfect for us with the extension. but i always worried about the flexing in strong winds - especially as i had to move things way into the centre of the tent so that in wet windy weather the tent fabric wouldnt get blown onto things inside the tent and then start to let water in.
i too saw the yeomans sale - and i got the trout lake tent, front awning and carpet all for 578.00
i sold my orchy and put the money towards the trout lake - and its been sat here in my living room being gazed at longingly until its 1st outing at the end of next week!!!.
the other tent i considered replacing the orchy with was the asante ( but i wasnt keen on the blue colour but impressed with the 6000mm h/h and steel poles ) and i also like the look of the Calisto - it also has steel poles, comes in green but only has a 3000mm h/h.
anyways as if buying the trout wasnt enough, i wanted a small touring tent to take on my bike - so i bought a Vango Omega 350 for 111.00 from go, its got a 5000mm h/h and only weighs 5.5kg
so i feel your saga - if yeomans can get you a trout, then go for it, otherwise how about the bear lake 4?
Thanks for the advice!! I am having arguments with myself!
dbice I'm glad someone totally understands me!! I looked at the bear lake 4 but it's out of my price range :( let me know how the 1st outing goes!
The last outing in the Icarus was wet & windy & and I felt like we were in a plastic bag and may end up in the land of Oz! The Montana lake was so different in the wind & rain!
I had a look at the kampas - they look quite good but unsure on the colour!!
Drying isn't a problem, I take over my dads garage for the day we get back with the dehumidifier on!
I'll have to see if yeomans get any more of the trout lakes I think!
