We have an Outwell Montana lake tent and wish to add an awning to the tent. Due to the lack of boot space we have considered the Montana awning which is not poly cotton. Has anyone tried this combination and if so how well did it work

i didnt realise outwell made a polycotton awning for the montana lake tbh.
i would like one for my bear lake 6 as the montana lake awning fits the bear lake 6 and can be closed at the front in wet/cold/windy weather unlike the open ended bear lake front extension.
the polycotton front extension for the bear lake isnt terribly big at all when packed - okies i dont know how much space you have to play with but you could always get a roof rack, a trailer and/or a bigger car!
because you ll find things to buy to put into the front extension too!
we have used a Montana 6 awning with our Montana Lake for 2 years now and it works really well .
The colour is much darker but we don't mind that , even if some folk think it looks messy .
The extra enclosed space that it provides has proved invaluable to us and we wouldn't be without it :)
Outwell don't make a polycotton awning for the ML . I have asked the question and it seems that they have no plans to .
------------- say little , think much

Thanks 34Ford for your comment that is most useful- have you experienced any problems with the plastic clips that fit the poles. I think the extra space provided by awning would be ideal. Do not understand why outwell have not added awning to the Montana lake either - we would struggle with space as the tent itself is big.
I would have preferred an enclosed porch/awning too but I bought the canopy and it actually very good - better than I had expected and very easy to put up too! It makes a big difference to the tent! I have just bought the same style canopy for my new Trout Lake 4 :-)
I really wish Outweell just did the one awning with zip off
front rather than having both an awning and extension. Extra money out of us though I guess.

No problems at all , everything fits just fine :)
Pack size of the M6 awning is not very big & not too heavy either :)
