gary do you have any idea at all at to who / where might have a tent display ( inflateables ) with all or most of the brands you have mentioned ?

because i will definitely arrange to be there and see them! - i really love this idea of inflateables - especially a polycotton inflateable.

Where do you live hankakampa, Im sure there will be a number of camping stores that have 2 or 3 or even 4 of the brands on show...Saying that Kampa are very fussy who stocks their tents so if you want to see their tents then it would have to be an independent who stocks Kampa,

So ok you get your shiny new inflateable tent.....

Plan a trip for your family.......

Get propper excited, the weathers going to be fantastic no chance of rain or high winds.......

Let the good times roll.......

Right.....

Well not excatly......

And please tell me if im wrong, in the past whenever we got a new tent i was allways a little aprehensive how will it cope with the wind?? is it waterproof?? are there any defects??

So we tend to try the tent in the garden before we go camping, check it over, give it a good spray with the hose pipe, sometimes tents dont pass this test and back they go for a exchange or refund.

The ones that do pass you have a newfound confidence in, come rain or shine and barring any gales the tent will keep your family safe and dry.

So getting to my point i have a great concern over the new tents with their one valve inflate approach.

Because on the calmest of sunniest of utterly idilic camping days you will still return to the campsite and every day and as you approach your pitch a fear will fill your belly........

HAS MY TENT POPPED.......

768

Yes it will happen maybee not the puncture....

But certainly the fear that your family holliday could be over at any minute no matter the weather and your shiny £1200 set up will be the butt of campsite jokes........

OH!!!! the SHAME........

Now the above situation was quite easily rectified as its a Airbeam with seperate canopy so you can ditch the canopy and swap out the faulty beam...

But theese new tents look too complicated and yes you can isolate individual beams but theese would still be popped.... No??

and chances are your holiday would be over.......

Yes i know its a tale of woe but i do think people should be aware of the pittfalls before they plunge into 2013 and a new inflateable.....

And i personally love inflateable tents but would never take my family away in one without spare beams incase the inevitable happens......

Im a bit of a gadget freak and tend to get caught up in the hype of shiny new things and just have to have it.....

I even had a sinclair c5 once upon a day lol......

But surely having a beam deflate is no worse than having a pole snap. Same problem and can be sorted with a new pole (as opposed to a new beam). I don't see how that can be a negative for buying an inflatable tent.

your right  RTS5 but would a pole snap on a beutifully calm summers day??

the thing with inflateable tents is they can......

spring a leak for no  reason....

When camping in some of the weather we have had this summer i allways find it a relief to return to site and find all is well with my steel poled tent.....

but returning on a lovely day to a poled tent this is the furthest thing from my mind....

but always with an airbeam you have worries......

and unfortunately these are sometimes well founded......

i like to go away and relax and not have to worry to much....

Ah I understand now. And yes can understand why you would be worrying about it all the time.

They have been trying to get inflatable tents to work since the 60's and as far as I'm concerned they can keep them the price alone is ridicules for a bit of material held up by air which may pop in the sun or slightly deflate in the cold etc etc family holiday you want security in your equipment and inflatable tents don't have it and never will
