We got two Outwell carpets for our Cabanon tent, Minesota 6 for the living area and Wolf Lake 5 for the bedroom pod.
The carpets were altered to a perfect fit, by a lady on our local market who does clothing alterations mostly.
We have been using the carpets since 2009 and boy what a difference they make to the feel inside the tent, originally bought to help protect the ZiG and SiG and for that purpose alone they have been worth the money, and for the extra comfort they provide pack size is very small.
i have a bl 6 and a trout lake with the living area carpets. i have to say the latest outwell carpets are shockingly thin - amounting very close to a piece of plastic with a pattern printed onto it and some fuzzy felt!
friends of mine had an outwell nebraska ( an older discontinued model tent by a few years now ) - the carpet for that was thick and fleecy and yes it was heavier - but it was a lovely carpet - if you ever see one for sale, buy it before i do and just have it altered to fit.
for my trout lake extension iv bought a Hi Gear sahara 6 carpet and i have to say for a budget tent maker, the carpet is soo much nicer than the new outwell carpet i got for the living area. and the hi gear carpet is a pleasant blue and green check / tartan looking pattern so goes nicely with blue or green tents.
i wont buy a new outwell carpet now - its shocking just how thin they are.
Out of all the carpets we have had, 3 Outwells, 2 Colemans, 1 Vango and 2 Royals I have to say the " Royals" are by far the best.

We used to have a Vango for our Icarus and that was a bit thin. We have Outwells for our BL6 and TL4 and they are thicker but not very soft. We have a Royal which we bought for the bedroom in the BL and it is very soft and warm.
Must say am disappointed with the (expensive!) Kampa carpet I bought - only been used twice and it had a small thread pull within minutes of use the first time, which became a more noticeable hole this time round :-(
Does make a difference from ice cold groundsheet though - so i'd rather have it than not - especially for those night-time trips across the tent to the 'Bog in a Bag!' (and that's a purchase I've not regretted!!!)

How do you keep your carpets from 'slipping'
Wasn't sure if heavy duty velcro would be ok with the adhesive on the groundsheet...
Would be OK, but perimeter furniture and general kit tends to keep ours in place.

....The carpets are a bit thin and expensive for what are essentially cheap picnic rugs sewn together
But should be styled and shaped to match the tent. Yer pays yer money etc.

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it
But from what I have seen, none of the manufacturers carpets are a perfect fit, and are made from exactly the same material as the cheap picnic rugs, the Higear carpets are sewn together anyway and after a week have already bobbled
in fact the cheap picnic rugs we took to put under the airbeds faired much better and they are years old :)

They do vary. After I scorched a brand new Orchy carpet, it was relegated to the bedroom. We sourced a previous years version for the living area off eBay and not only was it a different (better) colour match and material, it was better shaped and thicker, although it has bobbled since.
For our Bear Lake we scored two Outwells in a special deal and they seem thinner than both our Vangos but (touch wood) better quality. SWMBO is going to adapt one to create 2 bedroom carpets so we'll be fully co-ordinated. How sad is that ?
I do agree the tent makers versions seem to have a high price markup. I think they know that if an owner wants *the* matching carpet for their tent, they'll pay the price. Am I a cynical old git ? Yes.

What was interesting is that the Voyager 10 Carpet (for my tent) was 64.00 the Kalahari 10 Carpet is 40.00
Guess which one I bought :D
I think the main reason our carpet kept sliding was the fact that we were on a steep(ish) slope
What I would like to do with ours is cutout some small 1 inch square pieces for the bedroom hooks, but the edges would need the hem tape adding on also to give them strength and then I guess it would no longer slide and move about so much
Wether it will get done or not will depend on my Mum :D

That'll do it every time

I'd get you a quote, but Mrs G is dearer than Outwell

cosy but a little slippy in bare feet.
I have found both tent carpets I have owned (Outell & Gelert) to be very slippy to walk on in bare feet. I think it's due to the direction of bonded fibres to the waterproof bottom. Pair of Tote's socks sorts this out.
Going back to the original post - My outwell Indana carpet (now 5 years old and owned by the brother in law) still in excellent condition. But I love my Gelert corvus 6+2 almost hypnotic pattern carpet.
------------- Talking to myself is sometimes the only intelligent conversation I get!
I have a relatively old (4 yo) Outwell Montana carpet and find it very good quality, it has a thick almost rubber backing.
Looking in GO the other day and the outwells now seem to be the same as all the other manufacturers, thinner, almost spongy backing. It put me off getting one for my awning, its a lot to pay I'd rather wait for an older version to come up on ebay.
