Just returned from wet windy sunny fortnight in Cornwall in friends borrowed tent and thoughts now turned to a new bigger tent upgrade from our fab little outwell Virginia .we thought we had settled on Monty 6 (mainly for side storm porch- after having to deal with big door entry in wind and rain, but also decided that we don't want a seperate awning or extension due to worries when wind picks up) .....spotted the Maritsa which seems to tick boxes of steel poles , size, attached porch area and decent living space, but thought that the sleep pods seem quite low at the back? We have just purchased a double height king size air bed which fitted in our friends Michigan 8 brilliantly, but concerned that the height of the air bed might be too high and push against the back of the bed pod!!??

Can anyone help?
Thank you

We've got a Maritsa 700 and we ended up replacing our double height airbeds with camp bed/sims.....not because of th height but because the air beds were too wide - the 3 berth pod is 2m wide - the airbeds were 1m wide each meaning we'd have no room to get in and out of bed! (we prefer single beds and sleeping bags when camping!)

We do love the Mritsa though, it's a fantastic tent, I'll see if I can find a pic of our bedroom pod...

I never considered space to walk alongside your bed.  Hubby and I share the 1.4m wide Bear Lake double bedrrom and just crawl in when we open the door!  I did try and tell him about my little dream of camping without the children where we could put our bed sideways in the bigger pod and have the other one just for storage but he didn't get the point.  So I told him that if he thought the tent was too big for just the 2 of us he would need to buy me a trout lake for romantic weekends away - but he wasn't keen on that either!

BTW, when we were camping this last couple of weeks we had quite a lot of wind and rain and the Maritsas all looked really solid and unaffected by the weather.  I was very impressed.

Hi Bev
Thank you for your response, our air bed is 150 cm so would just about have stepping out space in the 2m pod!

Been a bit spoilt by 280 cm pod in friends Michigan. Our little Virginia 5 takes 2 single airbeds, but you had to sort of stick your feet in under the airbeds to ft in and out sideways.....not keen on the clambering in and out from one end malarkey, especially as double airbeds do tend to boing the other person around abit and shuffling to the end might have bounced them off by the time I was standing!! Lol

Very keen on the look of the Maritsa!!! But also tempted by polycotton Joopy (and you are obviously smitten already) after a couple of very noisy, flappy, rainy nights in the Michigan....the quietness of polycotton seems very appealing......if I can persuade hubby over price tag!
Having a dilemma and pouring over websites looking for my dream tent for next year...........do I buy now......or wait for new season launches......cos you just know there will be a new gorgeous tent that will tempt!
Sam
