Probably an old chestnut, but we are going round in circles, we like the protection the 5000hh gives on the 6p over the 4000hh on the 6, but we will be buying the extension, which seems to give more "outside" space on the 6 due to the shape of the front, it seems a little useless on the 6p.

Will we notice a great deal of difference regarding weather protection? Or is the 5000hh just a bit of a red herring

Thanks

To be honest you probably won’t notice any difference between the HH 5000 and HH 4000 as it’s more of a marketing gimmick. Most tents a couple of years ago came with a HH of 3000. As long as it’s over HH1500 is considered waterproof.

It will be more down to your personal preference of colour and slight change in shape.

That is what I am looking at - I am quite impressed with it.  Our children are 10 and 5.  I know that the 10 year old will want his own space soon but he has his own little pup tent

We have the Montana 6P with both Front Awning (6P) and Front Extension (6P). The Montana 6P (to me) looks more attractive than the Montana 6 (plus you might have a job to find all the optional extras for it now). Granted in the Montana 6P you don’t get as much space in the Awning/Extension as last year’s models.

We get the Outwell Richmond Kitchen on one side of the Awning but you would be hard pressed to get a table there as well so you end up using the other side (http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/userimages/9883.jpg). As for the extension, you get table and chairs under it, but not much else.

You can get the Montana 6 Mocha deal for £450 including Tent, Carpet, Footprint and Canopy if you price match Yeomans with Go Outdoors.

Use code YEOAFF4 to get extra 4% off at Yeaomans then PM at Go. Shame as this was available for less than £400 a couple of days ago as Yeomans were doing the tent, carpet and footprint as a special package deal.

The main reason is the Go Outdoors price match (additional 10%). Go Outdoors are a bit like Marmite - you either love them or hate them... I personally have found Go Outdoors very good. The only down side if you are not a member you will need to buy the £5 discount card. This is valid for 12 months and GO do have some good offers on now and again.

I was informed that Yeomans may be in trouble and stop trading in the near future but I must stress this was only a rumour from another retailer. I could not find any evidence to substantiate this.

The open Extension worked better on the Montana 6 or Montana 6 Deluxe (2012 Mocha) then it does on the 6P due to the front. Most people in general if they only get one, seem to go for the Awning as it can be closed up or opened up.

As I have said before, we only got the Extension as we won’t always take awning, and it’s nice to have a choice. One thing however you will need to take it down in very windy conditions.

In my personal opinion more hype than any practical difference. Unless the fabric is heavier/thicker IE 100 Denier (Kampa tents) to 75 Denier (Outwell). As the fabric is heavier it would be more resistant to UV degradation

To mcguire6078: Have you got one?

I have owned both Kampa and Outwell tents. I've also owned the Nevada 2009 HH3000 and the Nevada 2012 4000HH. I was able to compare Kampa and Outwell tents at the Crowlands tent display on windy and wet afternoon.

I don't have the Delaware 5 so can't comment or make recommendations on that though.

Thanks for everyones help, for info we have just purchased

Montana 6 in Mocha with carpet, footprint and extension for £417 from Yeomans. New offer came out this pm. I am very happy with price.

For info Go outdoors do not run a live stock website, after asking for price match, i received a snotty email telling me so, when they said it was out of stock. I pointed out it was still on thier website as "in stock"..........guess what a second snotty email. Takes all i suppose.
