on our last trip we took 3 tents with us as we werent sure with the changeable weather conditions what we would be using!
we only have space inside our flat to dry either a wet vango omega 350 or our Kampa minnis4 tents. - they can be setup in our living room and in 24 hours they are bone dry ready to pack away.
so on our last trip, we used out trout lake tent for most of the trip but we knew rain was on the way for our last night, so packed that away and put up the omega 350 - so that in case we had to pack away in the rain, we knew that we could dry a wet omega 350 at home, but we dont have the room to dry a wet trout or bear lake tent inside!
the 3rd tent was a vango event tent - it was brand new so we just wanted to build it to see it was all ok really and then pack it away again!.

On longer trips we take a small tent to aid an early getaway. The big tent and everything else gets packed away on the last afternoon and we pitch the babby for the last night for a quick and easy strike in the morning.

We do the same as TheFishesThree ... we take a small dome for last night of camping after we have packed away the Big Tent . .... we also use the dome sometimes en route to our destination when we travel through France for a one-nighter before we pitch the Big Tent at our destination.

We're with Humbird - small B&B tent for overnight stops, but we have done the other trick if we suspect rain to stop having to pack and transport a large wet canvas frame tent back from France.
If you have the space then why not? You take different pairs of shoes so what's the difference? (I'm a woman, I can say these things.)

We have taken 3 . 2 small backpacking tents and the Tipi . Tipi for base camping and the backpack tents for one night stops on the way to from destination and the odd mountain top or island hope one nighter while were away .

never taken or even though about taking two tents ?!?
i always pack away 90% of the gear on the last night just leaving a suitcase stove and the kettle out, fridge and tent go in the car last, so it takes little time to pack up. its amazing how much you can get away on the last evening of the night.
just normally have a few pegs and drop and roll in the am can normally do it while the wife showers. bad weather the night before is a pain though but normally it gets shoved in a bin bag till i get home then.
surely you just waste the last day of your holiday packing up and pitching a new one?!?

If the weather permits we have been known to take down the tent on the last afternoon and sleep under the stars on the last night. You should try it, it's one of the most strangely fulfilling outdoor experiences one can have.
