Are you looking forward to seeing these at the shows? Would you be tempted to buy one? Do you think you would be the talk of the campsite if you turned up and pitched one? Innovation, or impractical?
Why not tell us what you think about the new Combo Collection from from Outwell.

I saw these at the trade show a couple of weeks ago and they look brilliant and what a fab idea. If your family grows, so can your tent. If you need a wardrobe, you can add one in. If you are going light for the weekend, you can leave parts at home.

Very Keen on this one, Quite a simply idea really, Expanding on the concept of Awning or extension.
2 Questions though
1) How Waterproof are the Joins
2) Internally, are the Joins going to be a trip hazzard.
I very much want to see these in the flesh.

They claim to 'cater for every eventuality' but isn't is just an option to increase the awning/living space? You still have the same number of bedroom inners, at the rear of the tent?
From that perspective, it's nice to be able to use it as an overnighter/weekender, or add the awning size of choice to make it a long-stay tent, but I'd also like to see a zip on canopy instead of just an enclosed porch, and it doesn't look as if any of those additional awning segments have a side door facility or mesh panels for good ventilation (just the small pop-open vents at the top of each window) so you could end up with a very long, very hot and stuffy tent?
Khyam introduced the modular tent (the Ridgipod) some years ago, and Coleman had a go with the Evolva. Both of them allowed for additional bedroom annexes and the Coleman had a kitchen ('Chef annex') as well. They didn't take off. Maybe down to price? Shape? Too fiddly to pitch?
If this Outwell is reasonably priced for the additional awning segments then I think it might be a winner due to its simplicity and rectangular shape (it's going to fit onto most pitches, unless you really go overboard with the extra awning segments). This might be particularly tempting for existing Outwell fans, who might go for this instead of owning 2 x tents. Then again,I have a sneaky feeling that many people on these boards actually like owning 2 x tents or more!

buy the correct tent for your needs in the 1st place! by time you need to add extensions, tents will have moved on and you ll probably fancy something newer / better anyways!
this is just a sales gimmick - people are starting to think of their tents as houses / apartments with extensions etc lol

I've just bought a new tent with an integrated porch cos I got fed up with having to fiddle around with extra bits and pieces and we found if we didnt take the porch we'd miss it ! This looks a little too complicated for me !

If you take the two end parts and say the double middle part it's going to sell for about £550 ish, the same size and price as the 2013 Outwell glendale 5 tent. I'm interested to know how many people would like the idea of using just the two ends to make a small weekender tent as well as having the double middle section for longer trips or would you just buy the Glendale 5

Hi James
The Vis a Vis inner is just that, a two berth inner that fits in the front section of the base tent when you put some middle sections in, you just need to make sure the curtains are shut...lol
The double middle section has two doors, one on each side and the internal door divider.
You will be looking at £665 - £685 for the base 5 berth tent, middle section, kids room and vis a vis inner, so not as much as you thought...
I as a retailer have not decided yet, I need to make my mind up as my 2013 order has to be in on Tuesday. Its just the Glendale is a safe bet and so is a smaller weekender tent but a combo ? To much choice arghhhh!

yeah could be quite hard to put up a display showing properly the diffrent computations of the combo... i guess as a retailer you will have more faff with stocking the right levels of combo sections to meet demand.... you say the vis a vis is just a 2 berth inner to fit the front section. guess theres no option of having a 2+3 berth inner in the front due to the size & dividing doorway right. maybee you could have 2x rear end sections or is that just being silly/expensive

You start with the base unit which is sold as the rear and front as one tent, then you start adding what you need...I love the idea but as you say, from a retailers point of view, how many base units to middle to extensions etc etc do I stock...
