I was looking on eBay as I guess everyone is also doing now that Christmas and new year are behind us and spring hopefully is a only few months away!
2 vango inflateable tents went for way more than I was expecting - I was thinking that at this time of year there wouldn't be much of a demand for tents but it looks like everyone has got spring / Easter / summer hols in mind already!
Or is it just this years "must-have"?
Being on my own an inflateable would be much easier to put up! I don't care about it being the latest fad kinda thing!

Some items hold their value no matter what time of year they come up for sale but as always the demand for an item will ultimately dictate its price whether it be new or used. When money is tight for most people as it is now it does tend to drive up the prices of used items but then this is Ebay we are talking about so anything can happen price wise
Yeah Ebay can be a bit crazy price wise sometimes. I suspect as you say hankakampa that because there were inflatable tents they got a good price as they are so expensive brand new.
The fact that just about every manufacturer is bringing out an inflatable version this year shows they are the 'in thing' (well according to them anyway).

I have been watching "faulty" gear on Ebay for a few months as I was thinking of buying a tent (one that said the fault so I had half an idea what to expect). These come up few and far between and I missed the end of the auction on the last one I was watching. In the end I bought an Outwell Cleveland 5 new for £249.99 which was bang on budget. There were still a few items in my watch list and one of these tents was there but a faulty one. The one I was watching said fault unknown as customer return and the tent has not been put up. This tent went for £174.00. Maybe it is just me but, if all the poles are missing, it could cost a fortune to repair.
Last August I was going to take my old frame tent to the tip as it is too heavy for me and hubby due to health reasons now. It was camped in for well over 10 years, a bit faded, in good nick other than that. I was surprised at how much tents were going for on Ebay so I put it on for £1.00. To my surprise, I got £89.00 for it.
I think that there will be the odd bargain on Ebay but due to a seller not picking the best ending time etc. It looks like the recession has bitten good and proper and holidays are now going to be camping holidays for lots. I guess there will be quite a number that don't gel with it and there may well be bargains of "used only once" items to redress the balance in the future. We shall see.
I really wanted an inflatable tent and was waiting for all the new models to come out. Having seen the prices though that went a bit out of the window! Watched a few and ebay and they went for loads too (prob the same ones hankakampa). In the end have got us a returned Maritsa 600 and hope this will be ok and do us a few years. Will then wait for the novelty of the inflatables to blow over (ha) and maybe get one next time or in a year or so when all the used once ones appear on ebay. Very surprised at the amount of activity on camping gear on ebay, figured i'd better get mine sorted before spring arrives or it may be more like a frenzy!
Very true - our Nevada needs all poles replacing due to some nasty scottish winds. Working out cheaper and easier to just get a new tent than buy all the pole sections and cut to size and string together. Would never buy an Outwell without poles having now priced that up!
