I looking to buy a new tent for the family, 2 kids 4 & 7. Will be going on Europe holidays each year so wanted a tent like outwell Yosemite with its air conditioning feel but read the reviews and the talk of the weight and heaviness putting it up, and is it really worth the high price tag love the look and size and I normal buy thing to last and be of great quality. We would all so like to thing that we might go away a few more times in the year in the uk for long weekends and week ever side of the summer.
Have all so notice the new outwell Bahia 7 and wandered what this was like knowing 1, it lighter 2 lower price tag and 3 extra pods look great so not knowing what way to go would the temperature in the cold / heat be that different in this tent to the outwell Yosemite knowing summer hoilday will be really hot abroad and uk early breaks could be Cold .

So any one with any good arguments ever way would be great full.

2nd quick question got a grand scenic with toe bar would a trailer be the way forward if so what size ?

Welcome to the forum.

I don't have either tent you mention but thought I'd throw in my two tuppence worth anyway.

I don't think it matters what tent you buy in relation to the heat/cold. Tents aren't very good at regulating heat. If its cold outside, it's cold inside and vice versa and this goes for expensive canvas tents as well as cheap nylon ones. You are best to buy a tent that suits your budget and is the right size and weight. If you are planning holidays where it will be hot then probably wise to buy a tarp so you can sit outside under cover.

Re the trailer, this could be a good idea. Just be careful if your holiday means you have to drive through Germany as they have tougher towing requirements and be prepared for the ferry costs to be significantly higher.

Hi Sidoli,

We have bought the outwell yellowstone falls this year ( 2012 model ) so didn't pay full price. As you probably know the yellowstone is slightly smaller than the Yosemite.
Once the tent is up it is lovely. Have only done a test pitch so far, but will be camping for real on Monday ! However, me and my husband do find it extremely heavy and cumbersome to erect. It can be done in an hour with two people but it is hard work. Something we never thought about before we bought it is that the pole sleeves are completely enclosed. This does give the tent a lovely streamlined look once up, but it does make putting it up more tricky. Also the 2 bags it comes in are soooo heavy and my husband is no wimp ! There is no way you could pitch alone if you were thinking of that. It had made us think that we wouldn't want to take it for a break of less than 3 or 4 nights due to the effort involved.
I would think you would definitely need a trailer due to the size of the bags, unless you travel very light which with 2 kids is quite unlikely ?!

Yep, deciding on which Tent canvas to go for is an important factor, when I was looking for a new Tent back in 2008 the choices were as below, in order of preference.

"Cotton" (The best)

"All Season Polyester" (Cabanon's take on PolyCotton)

"PolyCotton" (Worst and best of both worlds)

"Rip-Stop Polyester Nylon" (Great for backpacking)

Needles to say, I went for a "Cotton" canvas Tunnel Tent with ZiG and Steel Poles.

The only downside is pack size, which is quite huge and heavy for the size of Tent, but as they say "No Pain, No Gain".

Although there are only the 2 of us for our 5 berth Tent, we still need a Trailer and 520lt RoofBox.
