No idea what the best course of action is, but you have my sympathies. Was it your cat, or some random foul creature whose territory you unwittingly pitched on?

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it
no it was not my cat I was drying out my tent in the back garden after a wet last night camping over easter just got in from work and went to take the tent down and noticed the smell.i have took the tent down in case other cats try to add there scent.

I can't guarantee that it wont damage the tent (but it has never damaged my carpet or furniture) Sprinkle it on and leave as long as you can, then just brush it off. The smell should have gone, but if not just repeat.
You could try Simple Solution Stain and Odour Remover. A quick google and you'll probably find it in a number of places, but I know it's available from Pets At Home here
We've used it on all sorts including cotton but never on a tent so not quite sure how it will react. It suggests not using it on wool, leather or untreated wood.

I feel the same as you scotsgorden but there are loads of cats roaming about the gardens where I live and it could of been any one of them.anyway I have tried loads of water and I am standing on gauard in the garden waiting for the tent to dry.if any cats come near they will get hosed down to
