We're thinking of taking the kids camping for the first time this year, and wondered if anyone has any handy advice...
Kids are 2yo and 4yo.
We think we've decided on an Outwell Montana 6P. Went in a few tents at a camp show and liked the Montana, and the ability to have 2 separate bedrooms - which can open them into one big one if the kids are a bit nervous at first.
We used to go backpacking & camping before kids were born, but this is a different kettle of fish...just being able to actually stand up in a tent is a novelty!
So - any tips, whether to do with handy equipment, campsite advice, etc etc will be gratefully received.
Cheers

Go with the flow! Don't get to stuck on sticking to their usual routine - let them eat, drink, play and sleep when they want.
I naturally found after a busy day my boys liked a shower followed by a mug of hot chocolate and a story before falling into a long, deep sleep thanks to all the fresh air they'd had during the day.
Take loads of baby wipes and some anti-bac hand gel.
Cook simple, one pot meals - stews, curry, chilli, bolognaise etc...
Pack some games/toys in case the weather is bad.
Let them take their pillow from home and their favourite cuddly toy so they have some familiar objects with them at bedtime.
Invest in a portable loo or a bucket with lid so that if they need to go in the night you don't have to take them across the site to the toilet block.
Ensure you dress them in layers at night that are easy to add to or remove and invest in good quality sleeping bags for them - there is nothing worse than cold, miserable children (or adults!)
There are loads of family friendly campsites - when my boys were young, one of them hated showers so we used to look for sites that had a bath on site. A play area or space to play football and run around safely was always popular with them too!
If your children don't like showers (like mine) so long as the cubicle is large enough you can use a small paddling pool as a bath, just be careful when pulling the plug (I stood in it and had to keep plugging it so it didn't flood).
