I'm going to a festival in the Netherlands with my friend this summer and we'll probably need a four man tent, preferably with two separate sleeping areas, that can fit our bags in too. We'll be flying there and I've never took a tent in a case before so need something fairly light for its size.
I have looked at this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ultracamp-Asquith-Berth-Camping-Tent/dp/B002M9UTZS/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt and considered splitting the parts between two cases. Does anyone know whether this is any good or have experience of flying with a tent before?
Thanks

Not had experience of that tent
But I do own a Kampa Minnis and can vouch that its an excellent small tent that sleeps 4 comfortably in a vis a vis style arrangement. It's also got 4000mm h/h and goes up in about 10 mins and has a sewn in groundsheet too so its nice & draught free. The pack would be small enough to check in although I'm not sure about it going as hand luggage

Our Son 28, took his six person Tesco Vis-a-Vis Tent (£10 new bargain tent!) on the plane 4 years back, when he flew to Nice for a fortnight campings at Antibes, that was with EasyJet from Liverpool and he had no problems at all.
As for which lightweight Tent, then Terra-Nova and Hilleberg have some good offerings.
Terra-Nova often have a factory/returns sale always worth checking there website.
My ex took our son camping in Spain last summer, flew from Liverpool. Had his tent pegs confiscated at the airport and had to buy new ones when he got there. Couldn't find a camp shop near the airport in spain so went to a hardware store and bought long nails! (Common sense really when you think about it, if you can't take tweezers into a plane cabin, a pack of tent pegs will be a no no!)

I'm flying from Liverpool too and don't fancy having the pegs confiscated ha. I'll assume they'd be fine in the hold baggage though?
If you can carry a Gun in the hold ( you can - although I think some gun owners carry part of the trigger with them to disable it ) I think you'll be fine with a tent in the hold ::P

Would you really take a Terra-Nova or a Hilleberg tent to a festival??
