Hi,

I am the proud owner of a Vango Monte Verde but need a smaller 'Weekend' tent. MV is fine when DH comes too but this summer he is working away.

It needs to have enough room for me and 2 children. Idealy with a bit of space as at 11 and 6 they do tend to annoy each other! I need to be able to pitch it by myself or with a little help from 11yo DS.

Not really stuck to one brand over another as long as it won't leak on me at 2am!

Any suggestions considered.

Thanks

We've just bought the Vango Icarus 500 for our smaller/weekend tent, for myself, DH and 2 kids. We have also bought the canopy, which gives space for cooking etc, but i wouldnt have said it was a necessity in a weekend tent (DH 'HAD' to have it!)

Theres plenty of space and headroom, the bedroom can be divided with a little curtain into a 3+2 or left as one big room, which is what we plan to do when its only for a couple of nights.

There seem to be plenty of accessories available for comfort (footprint, carpet, awning etc), so is a bit flexible, and at £189 full price at GO, its maybe worth a look at? We got a bargain on ours, got the tent iteself for £100 because we bought the display model, so thats always an option.

We havent used the tent yet, but we've had it pitched up for cleaning, and I was most impressed with it.

Have you looked at the vango Calisto 500 & 600?

Steel poled so sturdy in windy in windy conditions, easy to put up on your own, porch extensions are available and some bargains on eBay every one and then

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the suggestions. Visited local camping shop and saw the Vango Airbeam Kinetic 600 fo rthe first time. After the shcok of the price the practicality of it grew on me.

Any one got one of these tents? Slightly worried about a tent supported by giant inner tubes and I have heard horrible stories abou them exploding.

Sian

sian - Karsten have been making their inflateable tents for 25+ years - and they are the Rolls Royce of tents - they dont explode as long as correctly inflated to the required pressure.

vango outwell and kampa are all new to the inflateable scene i believe but the concept is good - just remember though that the time saved is just in putting poles together and threading them into the tent and getting the tent upright, sadly you still need to guy it out, peg the tent and build your bedrooms kitchen etc etc

it doesnt save as much time as many people probably think, BUT it does let you put up a bigger tent on your own that you might be able to manage if it had poles. but then there are methods of putting up large poled tents on your own on youtube - you might want to check those out before you buy an expensive air tent!

I have to say I really rate the new Coleman Galileo 5 which won the best tent award in the Camping magazine, we just pitched the Galileo 4 and what a cute little tent that is, both can be pitched in 10 mins.
I like the Icarus but the Coleman has just taken this idea and ran with it.
