No pitching videos available yet for these new models. They both appear to have more headroom than the older models of the same name (which have been on sale for ages, now).
Looks like this is goodbye to the pagoda-style Base Seconds 4.2, although there does seem to be some stock left in stores at £149.99.
I wonder if the Decathlon pop-ups are maybe going down the Khyam route, and getting too big and too complicated instead of sticking to their simple and straightforward roots. What does anyone else think?

I have just bought the 4.2xl, I already own a 4.1 which is a great tent for when the whole family is not camping or when my girls go in a pup tent.
The old 4.2 never quite seemed big enough to me to be a 4 person tent but when I saw the xl at £159.99 I decided to buy it, The steeper ends should give more room in the bedrooms and the floor space in the living area is quite alot bigger.
For the price I am willing to give it a whirl, there is a video on the quechua website and it looks like it pitches and folds in virtually the same way as my 4.1.
I am very excited to get out and about with my new tent.
The new ones for this year are the rather expensive airbeam designs.
The trouble with the Family models (in my opinion) is that the entrance to the bedrooms is angled, rather than vertical as in the pagoda style. So your in a bedroom with 2 sloping sections rather like a traditional tent.... in the bedroom sections anyway. Hope im making sense there? lol
The diagrams of the pagoda and Family models illustrate what im trying to say.
EDIT: The windows are a new addition to the models for this year I think though.

I don't think so. If you take a look, This is last season's Seconds Family 4.2XL (now on sale)at £159.99and thisis the previous model Seconds Family 4.2, on sale at £119.99. The newer models are full price.
I don't think the last season family pop ups were as tall (175cm) as the inital family model pagoda style pop up (which was 185cm tall, and which I still personally prefered), but the newer models (that I linked to in my initial post)are 202cm in the central living area. That, and the added windows, might make them more appealing to a wider market?

They are new models. They're something a bit different but I'm still happy with my pagoda style one even though I bought it in a panic because decathlon were supposed to be discontinuing it two years ago...and they then proceeded to sell it for another whole year and even reduced the price at one point!
You know what lidds, your right, the height is definitely taller than last years as it was one of the reasons I wasn't so keen on the Family range from last year.
The height and windows will certainly be of benefit but aesthetically I still like the pagoda style. Its just so damned cute.
It looks from the photos that the newer models have less lean to the bedroom pod entrances too, which is a good thing. I never could work out why that area was effectively wasted in the last design.
Anyway, thanks for putting me right. I think I dont spend as much time looking at tents etc. these days as Ive got as near to the setup I ideally want as I probably ever will. Theres always compromises to be made ofcourse, but Im happy with the balance these days.
I will be pretty miffed when the pagoda style model does eventually go from the range though and might have to buy another as a back up for the years to come. Great tents, in a sea of very similar looking models these days they really do stand out. Both for looks and the breeze they are to pitch and pack away.

Just tried out the new model quechua family pop up tent for 4 people. Put it up easily enough but took approx 15 mins and 2 people to put down. The tent was really spacious and my husband who is 6 ft 2 , could easily stand upright in the living area. Bedrooms spacious can get double air bed in each. All in all good buy at £269. Lots of vents.
There appears to be a clothes line inside is that right, piece of string in living area in ceiling. Don't know what it's purpose is except hanging clothes. Does anyone know. As we are first time campers.
