We have just bought a Vango Lomond 600, new on the market this year. We were really pleased with it, and can see it being a popular tent with families. It was certainly much quicker to pitch than our old Vango Orchy and extention. Overall size is approx 380x 645cm (including canopy of about 1m+ at front).

It has a built in canopy area, which is useful for some shade or cooking under. We found the bedroom area was much darker than our old Vango and had no bright sun blaring down on us at 7am. It is stated to be a 6 berth, but by the time we had our large airbeds and some clothes inside, I'd say it's more suitable for 4/5. There is a lovely large living room area, sufficient for good sized table, six chairs, kitchen equipment area and our pile of camping games/dumped coats etc.  Also, you can roll up a side door or it can be used as a small canopy.  Our campsite had quite a new knats/bugs flying around, so we found the mesh front very handy on this occasion.

We put the tent up during rain, but the rest of the weekend it was lovely and sunny, so haven't really tried it out during heavy rain and winds. However, it did seem very sterdy and also has the option of using a new tension band system during high winds.  We had a good look at the seams and all appeared well.

The downfall for us is that is didn't have any pockets in the living room area, although there are plenty in the bedroom. Other than that, I highly recommend it.

Think it manufacturers for around £340, but got it from Attwools for £299 including groundsheet and carpet.

Thanks for that.  Not expecting miracles, but we've done a couple of very windy wet camping trips in our time during a met office weather warning and a windy coastal location, so hope the tension system will help give a little more support.

Mentioning wind, is there a way of fastening back the built in front porch ? I have visions of a gust of wind catching under it and it seems to be my only concern about buying this tent

We've just bought a Lomond 400 for weekends. Having a built in canopy doesn't worry me in wind as it is not too deep.

No, you can't fasten back the front porch.  We had windy conditions following by 12 hours of heavy rain on our last trip and it coped well. Water drains off easily unlike our old Vango orchy which used to pool water on the top.

We've now done three camping trips with our new tent and are still pleased with it. Can easily fit four chairs, table, kitchen unit and all our games/spare shoes and coats dumped in corners!
