I bought a brand new one from Go outdoors last week for £149 - all poles are the same length so no colour coding required.
Sorry, this doesn't really help does it, as the tent could therefore be any age!
Maybe someone more knowledgable will be along soon
Hi gritter I almost bought an Icarus, spent ages checking it out. Then a bit like you we saw a display model for sale at our local camp shop. As I say I new this tent inside and out (2012 model) so I rushed down there to buy it. Now the shop advertised this as being new apart from the fact it had been on display for 2 weeks. when I got there yep the tent looked great but then I noticed it had no windows in the front (triangular ones) I let my feelings known to the sales guy that he was trying to sell me an older model as a2012 one. Imade him ring his boss and after a lot of heated discussion he offered me an even bigger discount. The problem was it just didn't feel the same as the Icarus Ihad done so much research on. My point to you is just try and make sure you are getting the tent you are expecting because that doesn't sound a terribly new model to me. I didn't buy the Icarus in the end anyway decided I needed a porch area glad I did now. Geoff
Hi
Easier to tell the year from the exact colour and width of the tent as our Icarus didnt have colour coded poles as they are all the same length

Ours is a 2010 in Laurel & Meadow colours - I think they changed the colours the following year but may be wrong.
The dimensions of ours are 465cm long by 315cm wide & it has small triangular windows near the front. The new ones are 470cm x 335cm & have 2, larger windows at the front corners.
There was also the two tone Sage/? one which we had cant remember the other colour so that should be 2009

2009 the green was sage and the blue was 'Smoke'
2010 the green was laurel/meadow and the blue was 'bluebell'
2011 the green was moss and the blue was true navy.

Think it's stayed the same since
We've recently purchased the 500 2nd hand (we are complete novices) and we'd love to know what year it is so we can purchase the carpet and canopy. Can anyone help from this pic?
As it's two tone I would guess it's 2009. You'll not get a dedicated canopy, there wasn't one then. There was a 'premium extension' which was a universal canopy for other Vango tents which happened to fit this one too. You'll be lucky to find one of those as they've been discontinued.
You could try pitching a tarp and a windbreak and creating a kitchen that way.

Do you think any of the later canopies would do the job?
