Looks like I'm in the market for a replacement tent as my 2012 BL should not have passes quality control. If the store doesn't have a 2012, it looks like I'll be offered a 2013 model. However, I'm not sure I like the 2013 as much as the front extension does not seem as useful as on the 2012, because half the extension space is eaten up by the 2013's curved front.
I'm therefore thinking that a 2013 Wolf Lake might be a better option, as the front bit is similar to the old 2012 BL6 extension and the WL can also be improved by the addition of the WL extension. making a totally enclosed tent.
We're a family of four (girls aged 14 and 8). Is a WL7 overkill and a WL5 about right? Don't want a tent that is tooo big and not used if there is only 2 of us in the future!
Any thoughts?

The wl5 is quite a narrow tent - you might find that its a bit small after being used to the 4.2m width of the bl6.
I'm selling my 2012 bl6 with front and side extensions - been used for a week only and is immaculate just in case your interested as iv bought the smaller concorde - the bear lake 6 is too big/heavy for me to manage on my own. I'm sad about that because the bl6 really is a brilliant tent.

Never actually used the BL6. It was pitched in a friends garden to check it was okay, then taken back to the shop. We're used to the width of a trailer tent (4.4m). The WL5 does look a bit narrow in the Outwell video

Well we have a 2011 WL5 and there are 4 of us but our two are a bit smaller than yours! But still I can't see it being a problem for space and any bigger would start to become a problem in the car. I'm a big fan of the WL and the new one looks better (in some ways - but worse in others, like the funny smoked windows in place of full mesh removable ones). We use ours with an outwell polycotton tarp onto the front of the canopy and some home made clips that help make a gutter effect. So we have plenty of outdoor space and the inside bit's fine too for 4. The new model has even more outside space so definitely shouldn't be a prob. I take it they're not going to give it to you at 2012 prices?!
If they don't have a 2012 BL, it would be a straight swop for a 2013 BL6, which might leave me with a problem as I'd bought a front extension, footprint and groundsheet from elsewhere. If i decide on something else, negotiations will need to be undertaken :0

at lewislaw - thanks for the heads up on preloved - iv never used it or even looked at it - project for next few days!
The other one worth a try is Gumtree (not sure if you have heard of it) which is completely free for both sellers and buyers. You can easily make a listing which includes photographs and a description.
The reason I like Preloved/Gumtree for selling is that you have no commission to pay (it's not like you get lots of additional protection with eBay), no PayPal fees, cash transaction and local buyers. You can also place an advert on UK Campsite but I have never experienced any success through the site (not a single enquiry) others have. Everything I've sold on Gumtree has been sold in 2-3 days.
