Hi, looking for around online I noticed quite a few Icarus 500 tents on Ebay in a gorgeous Blue colour, but I don't see these on the Vango website or on Go Outdoors, I can only find them in green.

Does anybody know if they used to make a blue or it's some kind of special edition or something? If it is an older model then how long has it been discontinued?

Since my Rock 4 letdown, I am looking for another tent and I like the look of the Icarus 500 but dislike the green colour.

Vango Icarus 500 Surf Blue is 2012 stock. One thing I will add I've owned an Icarus and it maybe worth seeking a tent with a rain safe entrance, otherwise very time you open the door rain water will get in the tent.

As an example the Vango Tigris range had a rain safe entrance.

You already have a blue tent..give the green a try! Personally, i prefer how the green feels when youre inside..our Khyam is blue, and its so dark, even during the day! I do like it, but the green is refreshing

GO have the Icarus on display...go and have a peek :)
We have bought the canopy for te Icarus, too...stops that rain thing people keep mentioning

Blue tents make me and everyone else look a bit sickly, which is a bit strange as I'm checking kids to see are they really ill or is it the tent! I personally prefer green too as it's the colour of the surrounding countryside generally...but each to their own. The Icarus has had a few colour changes within the blues and the greens. I forgot about the Surf Blue, but Vango have also dabbled with 'bluebell', 'smoke' (more of a grey blue) and 'True Navy'....I think I'd prefer the True Navy out of the lot. Vango changed the colour every year so if you can find a pic of the one you like we can probably tell you which year it was produced in...because we're all tent nerds here - in a good way of course!

I'm with you on the not liking green. Just before Easter I bought a Vango Midas 400 in surf blue and it's gorgeous. I'd already seen the 600 version in green and didn't like it at all, plus my bedding and all accessories were blue from when I used my previous tent so I wanted everything to match. I don't find it at all dark, and with the sun shining in it's very bright, in fact it's not just blue, it's BLUE!!! Maybe not for everybody, but I love it.

Decathlon used to always have the blue in stock. Not looked this year though. I like the blue. Makes the tent stand out from all the other Icarus in site. And there are always plenty!

We Have The Icarus 500 in blue,but its a 2009 model.It has dark blue at the sleeping end and the lighter blue at the front,we also have matching sun canopy. Have only seen the green one about though,have you tried ebay or gumtree. There certainly is an issue with the rain coming in at the front door so we tend to use the side door.Dont think theyve rectified this problem with the newer models either. happy tent hunting.

                           I had a icarus 2010 model it's colour was ensign/blue, it was 2 shade's of blue the back part of the tent was a darker blue and the front of the tent a lighter blue.The tent on the ebay link look's like this colour,you are now slowly becoming a tentaholic.

I've just had a leaflet through from Decathlon and on the front is a blue Icarus 500 so they must still stock them in that colour in store. £169.
