Just returned from a wet week in the Lake District where we discovered our new Gelert Horizon 8 allows water to pour in through the seams! Needless to say it is going back (purchased from Rutland Outdoors who have been amazing) They don't have any more in stock so will be getting a refund. We got it for a really good price which no where else seems to come close to and I'm really reluctant to spend more on a replacement when we had so many issues.
Therefore I now need a new tent. I like the layout of the horizon, we use the large bedroom and one of the 2 berth pods for the dog. We also have the porch which is essential to us but is annoying as it doesn't fit tight against the tent which allows water through and the way it is attached means that the tent is pulled lower meaning water pools on the roof (had the same issue with the tent before Wynnster Raven 8)
I have been looking at the Wynnster Marseille as the porch s built in. Any thoughts on this?
I'd like to know if the porch groundsheet is built in, is there a door between porch and main living area and will it stand upto the lovely British Weather in the Lake District. (we camp whatever the weather, monsoons, gale force winds etc!)
Also expecting a little un so do not want to downsize in anyway or spend too much as not sure how much use we will get out of it initially. (Horizon was £150)
Are they any other tents you would suggest?
Sorry its so long!
Thanks

So you're looking for a three or more bedroom tent with a snug fitting extension, or fitted extension.
The thing about having a separate extension/porch or whatever you want to call it is the lack of groundsheet means you can have a 'wet wellie' area and a place to hang coats up so they can drip off.
The tunnel style type of tent with bedrooms at each end (vis a vis style, french for 'Face to face') has a central living space and an extension has a large panel that goes over the top of the whole tent.
The one I'd recommend is the Vango Astoria 800 with separate extension. I'm not sure about that Wynnester Marsaille, looking at pics I don't think that there is a door between the extension bit and the main bit.
Other tents of that style are the Vango Kasari and the Outwell Hartford XL. The central dome style tent seems to have lost out in favour of the tunnel style tent possibly because of needing huge pitches (some sites charge extra for big pitches) and possibly because it's quicker to pitch a tunnel tent as it is simpler.
