Hi, I've got a Vango Icarus 600 purchased last July.
I used it once to pitch to see how it all worked and again for a 2 night stay.
I've just come back from a 2 night pitch and during pitching it a couple or so of the poles seemed to fracture. Fortunately it wasnt windy so I decided to risk it. and it was fine.
I suspect it won't survive another pitching.
Obv I'm disappointed. I erected the tent on my own, do you think that may be a factor?
Can the poles be replaced. I've looked at Vango site but can't find anything on there. And to what cost?
Looking at the Vango site Icarus 500/600 pitching details it says to note the colour coding of the poles but I don't recall the poles having any colour coding.
I'd be grateful for any advice.
Also. Upon pitching, the tent opening zips ar really hard to close. Is that normal? I realise there has to be some tension there!
Thanks Ellie

I don't think I did. Although I'm not sure now as I asked someone if I was supposed to take tent down with doors open or closed. They said open to allow air out for packing. But I don't recall if they were open or not when I put it up
when you put the tent up it helps to have the door open as the air going in aids in the lifting of the tent. But when pegging out you MUST close the door again, or as you've found, when you go to close the door it won't.
It doesn't have to be taut across the door, so it really does look as if it was a pitching problem rather than the tent.
The poles are easily replaceable, Tent spares have them. You can prolong the life of the ones you already have by using insulation tape, which is slightly stretchy, around the fracture. I had to do a campsite repair on one of my Icarus poles with insulation tape and I got another summers use out of it after that.
The Icarus poles are all the same length, so there's no colour coding. Other tents that have different lengths of poles that are designed to go in a particular pole sleeve, will have colour coding on the pole and a little coloured seam on the sleeve itself. It's irrelevant on the Icarus, which is one of the good things about this tent.

Just to say the broken sections are easy to replace. You only need to replace the broken sections, not the whole pole. Just note which way round they go (each has a ferrule at one end) and you can buy a kit to replace the elastic too.
Thank you. I emailed Vango re the pitching info and they are kindly sending me a set of spares so I can repair the poles which I thought was very decent of them
