Vango Airbeam Eclipse 600

Recently purchased this tent and after further investigation, it is not suited for an electrical hook up. It has no cable tidies on the beams so you can't hang electrical lights and the only cable input is right at the back of the tent meaning cables have to be run under one of the doors to the front, creating trip hazards.

Someone mentioned stick on velcro loops as seen in normal pole tents. Does anyone know where to get them and are they strong enough when stuck to a beam to hold a cable?

Other suggestions would be appreciated

Hi
You can use the access points where you inflate the airbeams to get the electric cable into the tent. Also just thread the main light cable in and out of the points where the inner tents hang and then you will find a hanging point for the light just in front of the inners at the top.

Hi Gary

Thanks and I can see where you are coming from. The problem is I won't want the light right in front of the bedroom where the kids are asleep.

There is another hanging point on the next beam forwards but no way to hang the cable up the beams.

There is also no hanging point near the front of the tent where my kitchen will be.

I could get the cable to roof level the way you have suggested but again need to find some way of securing a cable at roof level to run along the centre of the tent.

I figure I have to create my own light hanging point near the front and cable hanging points on the beams.

Open to ideas and suggestions

Stuart

Let me think on it, a glass or two of red might get the old grey matter going.

Hi. We have got the Eternity 600 Airbeam and that has got a cable entry point either side of the tent by the bedrooms. They are hidden on the outside by the storm skirt. On the inside they are next to the Airbeam closest to the bedrooms which are also obscuring them. I'm just guessing that your tent may be the same.
Ours also has Velcro tidies for the cable up the beam nearest to the bedrooms.

Hope this helps.

Stu.

If the beam unzips then unzip it and pull the tube out of the way (you might have to do this when the tent is down, not sure, and buy a roll of velcro and cut out tabs and sew therm on where you need them. Can't emphasize enough moving the tube out of the way. Have a good check round first in case you have missed something else you can hang your light off.

BTW all air tents might have unzippable tubes, not sure, only seen one yet and it was great.

Spoke to the local dealer who said that ANY alterations to the tent will invalidate the two year warranty so sewing is not an option at this stage.

Back to the drawing board as the only place to put a light is right outside the bedrooms which will stop my kids from sleeping.

Update

Fair shout to my retailer, www.bristolcamping.co.uk, who did not let this drop. Vango have now confirmed to me in writing that I will not invalidate my warranty however the stitching must be near the zip for the tube. i.e as far away from the roof of the tent as possible.

Great news for me. I would not however treat this as carte blanche to sew in cable ties. Best to work with your retailers and get their buy in as this is the first place Vango will send you.

Try the Outwell electric hanging lamp which you can also sit on a table/cupboard? I forget the name (Vega?) but you can buy it from Go - Outdoors for about £24.
