We decided to treat ourselves to this family pop up tent. We took it away for the first time over half term and are very pleased with it. It is the newer model and has been redesigned, it now has a large plastic window in the front door, along with two side ones and lots of mesh panels to open. It is also now over 2m high so you an stand up in the livingroom.
We managed to go away for the three rainiest days and put it up in pouring rain. It went up very quickly indeed and we also found it surprisingly easy to put away, they now have straps for you to clip together which holds it in shape for folding. It went backj into the bag quite easily.
We now just need to try it in the sun!

I'm always going on about our Quechua pop-up. It's the one bedroom version, the 4.1, and it is a brilliant tent. Couldn't be happier with it. 8 minutes flat to pitch it on my own. That makes a big difference when you've got a wee person trying his best to wander off while you pitch.
I was quite sceptical about these pop-ups because I'd seen the older 4.2 and it looked a bit floppy but these tunnel design ones are solid as anything.

See I couldn't disagree more, we have the the original 4.2 and it is a fantastic tent, stood strong through some trying weather and we love it- definitely not floppy in the slightest. We can also stand up in the living area comfortably whereas we went to Decathalon yesterday and were noseying at the tents (as you do )and my husband found that he couldn't stand up without his head brushing along the ceiling, we also found that on first appearances they didn't seem as stable as our original design but then again that was probably Decathalons dodgy pitching!
Each to there own I guess, world would be a boring place if we all thought the same. Glad that you are getting on well with your new one OP.

Yes, they are an excellent make. We also have the smaller 2 second pop-ups for nice weather, I like the quality of them. It seems just as sturdy as our sunncamp sport which this is meant to replace. Though thankfully we didn't have wind with the rain, that'll be next no doubt!
The one they had up in the decathlon shop was the outgoing model. They're reduced to £179 I think, and yes our heads brushed the top. The new one has a pole that's slotted in that arches up and raises the roof to well above head height. 2.04m I think it said on the packet.
I've had the 4.1 for me and the nipper for 4 years and it has been a brilliant tent and fast as anything to put up, just what I need for those times when it's just me and him.
I have been quite interested in that new 4.2XL version, and it's great to hear your opinion of it. I do wonder, do you get curtains or are the bedrooms dark enough to stop little ones from waking up too early from morning light?
------------- My OH is convinced that a permanent raincloud follows my tent where ever it is pitched. Apparently, I could end all drought and famine in Africa simply by pitching my tent there!

Hi, we've got the family 4.2 seconds - I can pitch it fine in seconds. Getting it back in its bag however needs 2, perhaps with practice 1 could do it but I'm not sure,( I'm 5'6'')

Yes you would be able to pitch it solo- no doubt about it. It takes more practise to get them back in the bag though and if it's windy it is hard work fighting against the wind. You could go into Decathalon and ask them for a demo (which in our local store they are happy to do) but then ask to try putting it down yourself and see how you feel about it.

I can get the 4.1 back in the bag by myself without too much trouble, having practised a little bit. I am 5'4" with short arms but probably reasonably strong and gung ho for a woman! I think a wimp might struggle. OH is too scared to do it in case he breaks a nail.
I think the 'hoop' of the XL must be a bit bigger though? And getting hold of two sides of the hoop is crucial to twisting it. I find it helps to leave one of the bottom pegs in.
Katajulia, all the windows have zip up flaps or velcro flaps so can be covered. The bedroom doors though have the top 1/3 as a mesh panel. This is great for ventilation but if you were sat in the middle bit with a lamp on it would probably shine through more than the normal door covering. I think though you could easily peg up a lightweight towel to cover it, easy to peep in on them then too.
This tent doesn't go into a hoop like the smaller pop-ups. More of a flat bottomed egg shape, then when the straps are done up it pulls in it's waist, then you have to fold it in half which is the tricky bit, then fold the two sides in and you have the circle to go in the bag.
Hi do you know if the base seconds standard fits on to the door canopy like it does on the old 4.2? I love being able to "twin" them to have extra space to cook. It does look a lovely tent.
