thinking of getting a couple of tarps for a couple of reasons...
1) To put up a shelter to sit/cook under outside our tent instead of a marquee etc
2) To make a tarp shelter with tarp on ground for our lad to play camps in the garden
Where do you guys reccomend buying tarp from based on the above requirements? any favoured stockists in the U.K. seems to be hundreds on the bay and via amazon etc...
Thanks for any suggestions
Phil

I have a Highlander one which is coated nylon/polyester, quite a small one that I used with my old tent the Khyam Freelander to prevent water ingress from the sloping tent door.
Nowadays, I use a 3.75m x 3.75m polycotton tarp from Obelink that I use over my Hypercamp Escala 4 as part of my nicer weather set up, so that I can sit underneath it when it is sunny.
I believe most tarps only come with 2 poles, and would advise for another 2 poles (as in King Poles) to be purchased as it would help to build all sorts of tarp origami.
Pic of my recent trip with the tarp up:

I got fed up of dragging a brolly everywhere to cook under, and it doesn't do the job properly anyway, so I invested in a Vango Adventure Tarp with some of my birthday money. Very pleased with it, very smart and amazingly lightweight for its impressive size. But I do feel like a bit of a beginner now, looking at that lovely Age-of-Sail style image, with all the creamy canvas and smart guying!
Oh, and... "Tarp origami"!!! Brilliant!
