Hi I am new to camping. We are a family of two adults, two children under 4 and another baby on the way. I want a, dare I say it,a spacious tent, to hold toys, clothes etc. It needs to be very easy to assemble as at times I might be minus my husband. Inflatable is out as my budget is small. I have been looking at vango icarus, tigris, lomond, I like the lomond but there are v few reviews... I almost bought a 2nd hand icarus 600 but moved too slow and it was gone. I also browsed coleman coastline as it's a bit cheaper but I gather that's because it is not as good as the vango range. Should I be looking at an 8 man tent? Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Only you can decide if you need an 8 man tent but bear in mind that some sites charge more for larger tents, we are a family of 5 and a 6 man tent is fine for us.
With your family quite young it might be better to have the sleeping compartments all adjacent to one another rather than have them on either end...easier for night time assurances etc. Vango and Coleman are much of a muchness, the Coleman Da Gama has won an award already and is retailing at £304 best price I can find..is that too much for your budget?
Hi all thanks for replies, I think I am going to go for vango icarus 600xl? It's working out at about £400 with footprint and groundsheet, apart from not having a clip for a light it gets excellent reviews. It's a little more than I wanted to spend and I think i am probably looking at the priciest time too? But I think it is worth the money?
The Icarus is an OK tent but steel framed tents are tougher... The Coleman's De Gama would be good or the Kampa woolacombe which has everything in one tent... You will know what I mean when you see it.

we are a family of 5 and have the coleman mckenzie cabin 6 with awning, its big enough to all sit inside if the weather is poor, 3 bedrooms, area for clothes, bags, toys etc and we use the awning for the kitchen, its easy to put up aswell, steel poles make it fab on them windy nights!
