A question regarding Outwell Sun Collection (Kauai reef particularly) groundsheet. I see that ground sheet for Sun collection is double coated PVC poly. Compared to like of Wolf Lake groundsheet (tarpaulin), how is sun collection groundsheet? Is it durable enough or prone to puncture or rips?

Its Ok Outwell wouldnt use it if it ripped or punctured easily

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Hi,
New on here but have taken lots of advice and help from here since we returned to camping a couples of years ago and thought I could help someone else this time. We have a Hawaii Reef slightly smaller then the Kauai Reef and have had no problems with the grounsheet with rips or punctures, we use a footprint and carpets in the bedroom, living room and utility area since i managed to drop a very hot frying pan and it melted the groundsheet slightly hence the reason for a cheap carpet in the utility area. By the way its a great tent into our third season and suites our requirements.
Hi
We have a Kauai Reef, the groundsheet is far better than other tents, i've owned but its not thick and rubberised like the Wolf Lake. The tent is heavy and big as it is, a heavier groundsheet would tip it over the edge to impossible to carry !
I think the groundsheet is a good compromise between durability and weight.
Overall the Kauai Reef is a lovely tent, it feels very substantial and is surprisingly easy to pitch (using the Gary Cross pitching method, as seen on youtube !)

Be sure to get a footprint - it means you can keep the groundsheet dry and clean so you can keep it zipped in making it a lot quicker to pitch.
Enjoy your new tent we love ours
