Good morning

Question please for the happy campers who own a Vango Monte Verde 900; can you please advise what pitch size I need to book up?

We took delivery of our new tent last night and am keen to go camping but unsure of the pitch size I need to request.

many thanks and kind regards

Hello a.amber

Just let them know the length of the tent. I think - I'm newer here than your are). Just checked for you - save you measuring 7.5m. Are you sure you don't NEED to get out your NEW tent and get it all out to measure it......

Some pitches I have found seem to say if tent is bigger   (than a 6 man it is a family and pay more - it all depends on the site.

Hi Frazzle

We did a first attempt pitch last night which went like a sack of potatoes. After all that we forgot the tape measure ...

We are new to camping and have 3 young kids running around like lunatics.

Going to have to get it up again sometime soon but thought I might ask on here so I can get booking somewhere whilst I'm still keen.

thanks for your reply....

Hello Amber

Ah yes we are new to camping as a family. Bought a second hand tent but forgot to check it had a sewn in groundsheet. Baby/toddler will eat anything (not food related) Was 'fun' with the 5 & 7 's also 'helping' to put it up. Now looking at a new / newer with SIG.

Hi

We decided on this verde 900 purely for space and SIG and fly nets...

We are planning on another baby too so I think this one will do the job.

Originally I fancied having a Bell tent but didn't feel it was big enough for our needs.

So plan now is when kids are old enough - years and years down the road, and can have their own tents that's when we'll get the bell..

Happy camping here we come

Footprint size of this tent is 7.5m x 5m (excluding guy lines)

Overall pitched size including guys would be approximately 9.5m x 7m

Sites don't usually want you to include the guys when giving measurements but a few do!

Argh thanks very much HEJC72.

Do you have the Verde 900?

If so how do you get on with it and any tips on how to pitch the front part, that confused me last night as I thought the groundsheet came up at the front and doors go over but wasn't sure how to peg it.

But then when we got to that point we were told to take it down as went to local park to do a first pitch and someone obviously complained and the police came by....

So we will have another go soon.

thanks

Hi

I love my monte verde 900.  Fabulous tent - loads of room.  We have found that most sites will happily accomodate it - 10 square metres being offered which is more than adequate.  The front lip does stay up with the door going over top and practice makes perfect.  If you have any common sense at all you will work it out easily.  Its an incredibly easy tent to put up and take down.

I'm happy to answer any more questions if I can.

Good luck and happy holidays.

"If you have any common sense at all"...... don't accept a pitch measuring 10 square metres..... it is far from adequate!!

Well Mucker - a simple typo as is obvious to most I'd think - should have been 100 square metres obviously (10 mtr x 10 mtr) - its been a long day!  Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit btw!!

Fiona,
"A simple typo" or not, as we are dealing with a newbie (The OP), I thought it wise, nay important, to confirm that the "10" wasn't right, regardless of how it got there.
Being new to camping can be daunting enough, what with all the technicalities and the jargon. The last thing they need is inaccurate info.

I agree about the sarcasm, however, but unfortunately, they don't come much lower than me, but I am too long in the tooth to change now.

As I finished my post with a winking smilie, with the intention of indicating that no malice nor offence was intended, I'll refrain from apologising, on this occasion.

I would just like to add that to use a phrase such as "If you have any common sense at all..." comes across as rather patronising, imo.... a trait not overly superior to sarcasm, in my book. All opinions, and a matter of personal taste, of course.

After your long day, I sincerely hope that you have had a good night, and that today perhaps offers you a little respite from the stresses and strains of real life.

Mucker
