We are new to the world of camping and have just recently been on our first camping trip. We have a Quechua family 4.2 pop up tent which is fab.
My question is we now know we would like some kind of awning for it and i have seen day tents but not sure if we would getting away with putting one of those up aswell as our tent.
My question therefore is could we put a different brand awning on it? for example a vango, outwell etc? we are wanting an awning that we can enclose if necessary and put some of our kitchen things in to make space in the tent.
any advice or experience would be appreciated.

From memory I seem to recall that the 4.2 is a viz a viz type tent with a fibreglass pole system. I am not sure if an awning or porch would be suitable with that tent. My advice would be to go for a day tent to cook in or maybe rig up a tarp to give you extra room.
Is there a specific reason for not going down the day tent route?
I would go for the vango adventure tarp. Its pretty robust and easy to use. Not enclosed but would serve your purpose. Halfords are selling them for £19.99 at the minute. Google image it and see if its something to consider.
