I've decided i want a bigger tent then my Buckingham 8 and this is where im stuck. after reading loads of reviews I've decided that i need a sig. 3 good size bedrooms and a big living area. I'm liking the look of the Hi Gear Kalahari but do i go for the 10 or the 8 and get 2 extentions for bedrooms and leave the bedrooms off one side and use the door that side?

Opinions would be great on either the 8 or the 10 or any other tent in that kinda price range/size.

Thanx

Hi :)

We're just selling our Kalahari 8 (see here) as o/h wanted a tent with an integrated porch. I don't quite understand what you mean by getting two extensions for the bedrooms? With the 8 and 10, the living room area is in the middle of the tent with doors and windows both sides. With ours (the 8), there's two double bedrooms one end of the living room (that can be made into one bedroom by taking down dividing curtain), then two double bedrooms on the other. The porch for the tent fits over one of the doors of the tent. The layout of the tent can be seen in the pictures here.

Sorry my mistake i thought there was a door opening at 1 end so i could put a extension over both side doors and not put up the bedrooms at one end to open up the living space. Looks like i'm mistaken. Back to the drawing board lol

At least you checked first You can actually not put the bedrooms up at one end so you can open up the living space still though. Great tent. We've loved it!

The Porch for Kalahari is now out of stock, but if you have the 8 man the Zenobia porch fits, (but doesn't fit the 10 man)

Have a look at the Monte Verde 900 , I do have one that is available, it is a very large tent. With the enclosed canopy, which I also have, it makes a very large set up. 4 bedroom pods,2 large living areas etc. two side doors plus the front entrance. Well worth looking into. Good sturdy tunnel tent.

Bowies. Thanx for your reply. I went to GO today n they said they had them. I like the look of the kalahari 10 n with the carpet n foot print its still less than £350.

Cheers Wiley. Just had a flick at that and it does look impressive but some of the reviews aren't great, looks really difficult to pitch on my own as I'm a novice and also a tad out of my price range

Just remember there is no porch available until next year for the 10... the Zenobia Porch only fits the kalahari 8.

We have the Kalahari 8 and previously I couldn't see past outwell or Kampa, but impressed with the Hi Gear tent .
