Hi,
My advice would be buy the best tent you can afford. You can take a lot of items from home (eg Duvets). If you can beg or borrow camping items try to do this. Don't spend loads of money on camping stuff until you've managed to get away for a couple of times and decide it's your thing
Don't rule out traditional canvas tents like Cabanon as you can pick up some real used bargains (just make sure you get to see it though).
Halfords tents won't hold their value, Vango or Outwell will. If you decide it's not for you can sell the tent and get most of your money back.
Cabanon Example

Brian is right; but if it matches your budget, then at least it will keep the dew off you. The tent looks like an OK starter option; the airbeds look horrible but might last a few trips; the sleeping bags OK for summer camping.
There's other threads here on basic kit lists; but I'd steer clear of electrics to start with, particularly on a budget.
Welcome to the great outdoors; hope you all have a great time. Just find some sites where you can all have great adventures!

People are always asking for camping kit on my local freecycle, so it's worth a try.
Decathlon, if there is one near you is good for sleeping bags, Aldi have a cheap camp cooker and other stuff in at the moment.
Otherwise pound shops and Wilko's are good for plates, cups, kettles etc.

rochford6 hasn't posted since 2013, of course this doesn't mean they are not around and might see your request.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Why not look for something second hand. We have loads of tents and all the gear always up for sale around us. People seem to buy everything and then decide it’s not for them.
