I have an Outwell Montana 6 that I bought this year on Ebay. The people we bought from had had it "a couple of years" and it appeared to be little used and well cared for. It is a brilliant tent and we were very pleased with it until the roof leaked in the third deluge of a mighty storm this weekend.
It was the fabric rather than the seams that leaked, in the first roof section, between the first and second roof poles. The tent did subsequently withstand heavy showers but we are understandably rather alarmed as a lot of water did come in.
I have contacted Outwell but have a couple of questions that I'd appreciate advice on please:
Is there anything we can apply to the fabric to waterproof it again?
How would I be able to tell if it is an Outwell Montana 6 from 2010 or 2011?
Does the front extension awning for the Outwell Montana 6 cover or partially cover the section I am talking about? It looks from the picture on Go Outdoors as though it might and if so it could offer a solution (which we'd happily spend £109 on).
Many thanks for any advice, we're novice campers, who've had to come home a day early due to the dire forecasts for tomorrow and are trying not to lose faith!

Hi,

We have just purchased a Montana 6 from ebay. Not had it out the bag yet but told it was a 2010 and only used once. The 2011 montana`s had the storm straps around the poles ( black velcro straps ) 2010s didn`t have these if that` s any help. Could you not use a waterproof spray like fabsil or similar?

There is a tag in the bedroom pod with the date on it. The front extension does not cover the roof. Your only course of action is to give the roof a coat of "Fabsil" and keep your fingers crossed it waterproofs it. How much
water came in and are you sure its not condensation

Worth giving it a spray anyway. Nothing else you can do. Some of the storms we have just had have been so heavy a new tent would struggle. Tents are only a bit of fabric and poles. I think sometimes campers expect a bit to much.
