HI, whilst camping on the Isle of Wight last week, we were caught up in an incredible hail storm which tore at least 20 holes in our Vango Samara 600! The attached canopy seems to have survived though.
As we have a couple more camping trips booked in the next few weeks, we need to replace the tent but wondered if anyone could recommend any tents around the same size as the Samara, which we have generally been pleased with bar the odd problematic zip that this particular tent seems to suffer with...
Not sure we'd find one hail proof though ;-) as most of the tents & caravans on the same site were damaged!
Thanks in advance

I would suggest a Maritsa - because i have one and i love it!! We've had no issues whatsover, loads of room, built in porch, up in 15 mins (bar pegging the guys) and some bargains to be had. we have the 600 for 5 of us and there if loads of room, would actually fit 6 people in comfortably too, and probably about 10 sitting in the living area lol x
How about a canvas tent? Have a look at the offerings over at Obelink.

That's mad, we were near ventnor on the island till Saturday and had a crazy sheet lightening storm on Thursday night followed by a deluge of rain for a couple of minutes then nothing!
Luckily no damage to the tent or leaks so guess we were lucky!
The locals say it was a mini tornado... I'm not sure

Thanks all for your suggestions, will take a look. Not thought about canvas as have always been put off by size / weight of poles..
It was one hell of a storm! we were sat round watching it approach in awe, just before the hail came. We heard what sounded like a train coming through the next field just before, it was so loud. My 2 year old was asleep in the tent and didn't stir haha.
West1871 - we were near St Helens on the east side of the island. You must have just escaped the worst down in Vetnor.
