Hi, I'm new on here but wondered if anyone can help. We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 young children and want to upgrade our 4 berth Aldi tent! I've been looking at the vango icarus 600 and calisto 600 as we like the tunnel design and want the bedrooms together. we also want a sewn in ground sheet and the option of adding an enclosed porch. The question I cant find the answer to is what are the dimensions of the sleeping pods. I know the icarus is 2x3 berth pods and the calisto is 2 and 4, is the 2 berth pod big enough for 2 adults comfortably? Thank you in advance

hi andrea t

iv just been to go outdoors today and saw the calisto 600 there on offer at 179.99 in blue.

i had a looky inside - very nice big tent - and yes i would say the 2 bed pod is fine for 2 adults to sleep in comfortably.

remember the calisto is steel poled - so although heavier to carry, its much sturdier than the icarus should you suffer windy conditions.

Thank you hankakampa, that's really helpful. The calisto was the favourite so great that we'll all fit in it!

As far as space is concerned, I would have said the Icarus offers a better option for two adults and three children, rather than a four berth and two berth pod, the two three berth pods offer enough space for the kids, and the parents, rather than being squashed into a two berth compartment, get a little space to stretch out and get dressed etc.

I take the point about the steel poles, and that certainly is a factor to consider, but for space I would have gone for the Icarus.

Jane.

at andrea t

also, on ebay from time to time and that large camping place in liverpool - they seem to have special editions of the calisto - it has an extra panel at the front to add more living space caled the xl and if i recall seems to sit at around the 299 price bracket. so a lot more money - but then it may save you buying the extension later

in fact here it is at 275

Thanks Jane and hankakampa again.

This summer has been our first at camping properly as my youngest is onky 2 yrs but my husband has been working so much that I've been on my own with friends and family so not done more than 3 nights.

I guess I could pitch the calisto 600 on my own but the xxl might be a bit much. If we go for the extension I can choose to use it or not depending on circumstances and weather!

Now I have to convince husband to part with cash!

Hi Andrea t

The standard calisto 600 plus extension sounds perfect!

I was in go today and its up on display so thought I'd take a pic for you...

Maybe not sooo easy to tell from the pic, but the kids can all sleep together in the larger part of the bedroom pod and you and your partner I'm sure will be comfortable in the smaller side.

For £170 it's a lot of substantial tent for the money

Here it is :-
