Advise Needed PLEASE

I am relatively new to camping and am just about to purchase my first decent tent, I have looked at many and have decided to go for one of the 2 listed below. Just wanting a little more advise on which one will be best for me camping across the UK.

The green one is a Ripstop material and the Sand one is a Technical Cotton but I'm not really sure which one is the better tent.

Which is the best tent for the British weather ??

Does anyone own one of these ? If so whats your opinion on the tents ?

I don't know much about Eureka tents but the cotton one looks good. I personally like cotton tents

From what i know and can see they will both be fine with the British weather.
Have you checked out youtube for reviews, i love watching idiots with phones reviewing stuff.

whichever version you go for, id suggest the breathable technical cotton version as it will be more comfortable for you inside the tent as this fabric breathes.

Thanks for the responses but will the Technical Cotton one be fine with the rain ?

It shows it at 1000 mm waterproof compared to the Ripstop one which shows at 3000 mm waterproof ?

Have searched youtube but nothing really about them.

Dont want to end up getting wet

I don't know much about tents, but that's a European website you've linked to, and the 1000 tent might be aimed at areas with dryer climates than the UK. The 3000 will be waterproof enough for the UK.

1500 HH is the minimum 'waterproofness'..below this, its not waterproof. Thats my understanding, anyway. So 3000 HH is MORE than minimum, therefore 'more' waterproof, as it were.

The difference is the fabric from which the tents have been made from.

The Sphinx 5 is made from polyester and it's HH is measured as 3000.

The TC version is polycotton which is a mixture of polyester and cotton. This is the better one (and more expensive) as it will allow the tent to naturally breathe, the material will be thicker and the tent quieter in the wind.

Although the HH value seems to be less at 1000HH they actually work in completely different ways. When the cotton fibres get wet in the TC version they naturally swell which makes the tent waterproof.

Can I just ask have you managed to see these tents on display anywhere ..?

Hi I am no expert in camping, I am on my 4th tent in 3 years .

If I was looking for a tent for uk camping I would try to get one with eye-browsor porch to keep you dry when it rains(it will at some point) a sloping door will mean that you will let water in every time you open door if it is raining,

A polycotton will need to be dried before packing away have you somewhere to do this.(have just got ourselfs a polycotton tent and was awareof the weather when packing.up)

the polycotton will be heaveier but warmer in coooler climate and cooler in hotter. but will still be hot.

How many trips do you see yourselfs making in a season?

Ice-pop is right it may be worth considering a design with a rain safe door...? As an example Vango used to make a polycotton tent based on the Tigris design. In was discontinued in 2009/10 I think. They received mixed reviews due to quality but I had the 400 model and thought it was fine with no issues.

The other options maybe a secondhand Cabanon Canvas frame tent which can be found for less than £100 or Bell Tent..?

I don't want a Bell tent, I don't like them and don't want to sleep next to a dirty bike.The tent will be used about 20/30 times a year allover Europe, But mainly in the Uk. The Side doors will be used mainly as access to the tent and to store the MTB,S and equipment inside the vestibule. I don't plan on been inside it all the time, would rather be out on the trail but if the weather does put us of or we fancy a quiet few days inside would like a tent to accommodate this.
