Hi everyone - I am smiling as I write this have read Katie's post "find me my perfect tent" just before mine so here goes

We currently have a hi-gear kalahari 10 which we really liked because we like our space for our family of four . That seems excessive but we had one "cell" for the wife and I and one each for the kids. The 4th cell was used for storage (AKA the junk room) . We also have the footprint, carpet and porch for the tent. The only thing we don't like is the porch which never seems to fit properly.

Because it is probable it will only be used by the 3 of us from now on we were thinking of changing it for something line the vango Maritsa 700 which has the pod only one end and loads of living space as well as a built in porch. In reality the physical size may not be much different but is the balance of living/sleeping space which we prefer

Our budget is pref below £600 and we would like to try and get and carpet and footprint in that.

It is probable it jay only get used twice a year max.

I can't find the Maritsa on the vango web site so am I right in thinking it has been discontinued?

I don't know the answer to that but its a great tent.

We brought ours 3 or 4 years ago with 4 peeps and 2 big dogs it was ideal but fast forward with now only 1 big dog and suppose it won't be much longer before the kids won't come with us either but I do know it will still be ideal.

Right, might be able to help you here a bit!! we have just bought the vango Maritsa 700 (only yesterday) from go out doors in a sale £349.79 witch we had to get shipped from Swindon store as Exeter didn't have one! not many around now as I think they are discontinued but still at the price who cares. you can still get the foot print in most stores but im really struggling to find the carpet at the mo. you can get vango rugs in different sizes but would be nice to have carpet:-)
any way hope this helps, Pete.

Hi,

If you are interested, I have Maritsa 700 that I will not be using this year. It has only been used for 1 week and in perfect condition...apart form a hole in the ground sheet due to a hot pan being left on it! Very fixable, but I have not got round to sorting it out.
Was going to advertise in the spring, however if you are interested see the add I have just put on here.
Looking for £200 has carpet and protective footprint. Its in A1 condition apart from the hole (approx 3"). I'm in Camberley, Surrey

Cheers
Jack

Just a tip for anyone not too sure, from a neutral who has nothing to gain here...
A 3" hole in a SIG is not the end of the world.... I had a 4" long cut in mine (don't ask!).

Gorilla tape (Basically, it's a good quality Duct tape) on the external (underside), and Tenacious tape on the internal (upperside). Round off all corners (or use a rounded patch if it fits) on both tapes.

It worked on my Iccy 500, (admittedly used with a footprint underneath) right smack bang in the middle of the living area, where footfall was at its heaviest... and of course, the carpet hides the fact that it's there!!
I've since passed the tent on (to family), but I know for a fact it's still going strong, with no signs of failure, with approx 12 nights camped since it was patched up.
Don't let such a hole hold you back from a seemingly otherwise bargain.

Just sayin'!

I agree with the previous two posts - the damage in the SIG wouldn't bother me and I reckon you wont have any problem selling it.
