Ah the joys of owning a Vermont xlp
It's surprising how we figure out easier ways of packing these big tents away

A little tip for getting a large/heavy tent into the bag (assuming it has been rolled small enough of course ), leave the tent on the ground and put the bag on top of it as if you are putting a hat on a small child, then roll the whole thing over and you get then do the zip up.

We do this with our large tent and I can get it back into the bag on my own

When Gary mentioned a "two-man lift", I was going to put something similar to the above, as that's how I bag mine up. No need to lift it to drop it in the bag... then I noticed Gary mention a wheeled bag, and presumed that makes a difference? Not seen these bags, so not sure.

Mucker ... we have a wheeled bag for the Vermont, the wheels are just fixed on the underside of one end and then there is a handle on the other end like a wheeled canvas luggage bag, and the zip on the top.
So not really any different I don't think than any other kind of top opening tent bag - unless of course its like a duffle bag with the opening on the end
But even so, the rolled tent can be propped on its end and the bag put over its 'head' in the same way

Paul and Kate.... yay the Vermonster ! Although I do think sometimes its too big, for France anyway, when we end up sitting in whats left of the pitch because the Vermonster has oozed all over the place! Really like the look of the Eden 600xl... maybe that's the next on my list

Took my delivery of Eden V 600xl, side extension, footprint, carpets and rugs last week.
Camping novice, but have been doing my homework all winter on here and elsewhere.
90% sure it was what I wanted, which was confirmed at the NEC.
Not yet had a practice pitch, due to variable weather, but had a play with the packaging in the garage, on my own.
Rolled the tent out of the bag, by turning turtle. Removed the bag of pegs (look like good quality sturdy plastic - even get a cheap rubber mallet thrown in), felt the pump and poles were present.
Re rolled the tent, tied up and put the bag back on (as said previously like putting on a cap), to be honest had more trouble re packaging the footprint on my own.
We have permission from a local recreation ground, to allow us to do a practice pitch (next week hopefully), before our first outing locally with our 4 year old twin boys, big sis (10) and mum, the week before Easter.

Can;t find the pictures of the best way to get them back in the bag, always use this method now to get our Croyde back into the bag.

We use wheels from house to car then just roll it at the campsite, deffo two person lift into the car, but we just drag it out.

I've only ever seen one other on any site we've been too
Think when you start getting over the 50-60 kg weight it just becomes a bit of a chore
Think the Eden was about 70kg dry
Myself when we had the tent was 34 yrs old relatively fit could just about lift it to my chest and put it into the boot of our octavia estate
It took the majority of the boot up
And as you all know you can't split the pack down as you would with a poled tent
So the novelty of a heavy but quality tent soon wore off and it was sold it 6 months after we bought it I suspect a long with most of the other Edens
We did try a couple of other tents but again weight and pack size just got to much and this combined with not camping through the winter months and crossing our fingers for dry pack ups we chucked all our money into our motorhome now there's no weight issue and it can slash it down on leaving day and we simply don't bat an eyelid
Start the engine and drive off onto our next site
Sometimes we miss the tents until we get onto site and pitching time is a true 10 mins and no rolling round on a big bag of wind and wrestling it back into a bag that was too small to start with
As long as we all carry on camping that's what matters
Enjoy all your new toys

i know what you mean about quick pack -ups! and the huge weight of the eden!

you see folks now with ever increasing tent sizes ... and then a few months later ( or after 1 trip! ) its up for sale! ... was all too much effort!.

meanwhile my new tent is the heaviest ever but not the largest by any means - downsizing is strangely satisfying - and i thought that whilst im still fit enough and able to humph it around then i should make the most of it whilst i can and enjoy the tents i like the most!

biggest isnt alway better - sometimes small is beautiful and better made ...(hence heavier lol )

i cant wait for the season to get into full swing, and i hope you too enjoy it to the max with your new motorhome!.
