After looking at the Outwell Concorde M  and noticing its weight iat 29kg, you would think manufacturers would bring out a 4 man cotton  inflatable tent around the 20kg  but no like the Vango  Eden 400 the weight goes up to 40kg.I have an Outwell Oakland xl which is 27kg  and I split the pole bag and the tent for ease of carrying bringing the tent bag down to 17kg and the pole bag to 10kg.I must see it wrong but I thought inflatable tents were to make it easier to camp with.Instead  the bag weight has went up and no way to seperate the weight to make it easier. ( Doh I dont get it )

If they halved the weight & the things went bang after a couple of uses, I guess they would have got it even more wrong.

With that weight comes bulk & more space taken in the car, more likelihood of having to add a trailer or roofbox where they otherwise might not be needed = more cost in gear & inconvenience. I wouldn't consider anything over 20kg in weight for a family of four.

That's a fair point, and something for people to consider when buying a large inflatable.

That's surely why manufacturers of cotton and polycotton type tents have ZIGs instead of SIGs, so the weight and bulk can be split. Easier to carry, store and stow two or three bags (canvas/poles/groundsheet) than one huge one.

My last Outwell, a Carolina 3, weighed about 20 kg I seem to recall. When it was delivered in a smooth cardboard box I could hardly lift it but was relieved to find that the tent and the poles came in separate bags with handles and that made it much more manageable. The trick then was not to forget to load the poles into the car as well as the tent!

I now have a Coleman Da Gama 6 which weighs about 24 kg I believe and although the poles have a separate bag it doesn't have convenient handles to carry it. Nevertheless I have to carry the tent and poles separately.

I don't think I would consider anything heavier than the above weights.

Same problem with my sig bell tent, it weighs a ton. I have a trolley I use to move it about, handy for campsites where you can't get car near to the pitches.
