Hi,
we have bought a airbeam exodus 800 and canopy but cannot find any pitching instructions, the vango website gives a link to vango.co.uk/airbeam-pitching-instructions
but the link is dead.

Also has anyone found a way to make the pump end stay attached to the valve whilst pumping/inflating each beam without another person having to be present, its very frustrating having it keep popping out. The tent is great technology, the pump is a ok design but the two do not interface to each other, why something so important to the whole airbeam approach would be overlooked makes me think it must be me.

So how to push in, lock in place, pump, remove .... not push in, pop out, push in again, pop out again etc , push harder .. pray, its frustrating so I must be doing something wrong - for the price maybe it should have been supplied with bluetak !

PG

Hi
The instructions are normally sewn into the bag on Vango tents but all you do is layout the tent, make sure the corner pegging straps are slack then peg the corners. Open both side doors to allow air into the main tent area (makes it easier) then start with a middle beam and blow up. Not sure about the pump coming out, not happened to me and ive put a few up but I use an electric pump most of the time.
Im sure your retailer would of been happy to let you know all this, they have the profit on the deal so use them, that's what we are here for.

thanks Gary I'll look inside the bag. I just expected the pump to lock to the valve so maybe I'm missing/lost something.

I find it's better if you wet the pump connector slightly then jam it in place. I'd prefer to find a good electric pump and surprised Vango don't make one themselves. Anyone any recommendations?

hi,

We have just ordered the RAC750 from www.speeding.co.uk.
At £49.99 free postage.
http://www.speeding.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000069.pl?REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww.speeding.co.uk%2f&WD=rac750&PN=Car_Accessories_Tyre_Pressure_Gauges_125.html%23a149#a149

Was recommended this from a Karsten Tent owner achy....it looks almost the exact same which Karsten sell for a much higher price.
Haven't received this yet so don't actually know what its like but comes highly recommended.
Also Aldi have an electric pump for sale at the moment, also used by a Karsten tent owner but for us space is limited & this is quite a big compressor.

https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/thursday-1st-may/product-detail/ps/p/portable-compressor/.

Hope this helps .
Maddie

I'd recommend the one a certain Mr Cross sells, works a treat and shuts off at the pressure you set it to leaving you free to either hold the pipe in place ( shouldn't really be needed ) or nip into the tent and provide support to the beams as they inflate

Please please please be very careful using tyre pressure pumps on any inflatable tent other than the Karstens which go to a much higher pressure in their tubes. The pumps that are suggested above can go up to 240psi and you may find it very hard to judge if you are at the correct lower pressures... The gradients start at 0 psi but go to 20 psi very quickly.

Between 7 and 8 psi is what I put into our vangos
Flux 500
Eternity 600
Eden 600
Never had any problems with the beams at this pressure
Just don't rely on the pressure gauge on the manual pump they are rarely accurate
