That's been the plan for a few weeks now, Gary... but, Muckerette may (should know by tonight) have the whole Easter weekend off, so we may have 3 nights next weekend. As we had 3 nights just last weekend, we'd then be looking to come to yours for a day trip only.

However, should next weekend's plans/work rota's work against us, then a 2 nighter down near you will be back on the agenda! Not had a proper look (at local sites) yet, but have already earmarked the garden centre one.

Will do and now have persuaded the old man to go a day earlier!

I'd also like to add that James has been super helpful to us - despite us not buying the tent from him. However, we may be after some accessories soon.

Mucker - it may be stating the obvious but take your camp beds wih you when you go to have a look. That's what we did before we bought our Karsten from James last year. It really helped get a feel for the space and it makes sure you account for the height of the beds compared with the walls of the tent. James was excellent and was very patient as we tried all manner of different arrangements for our beds (a double and a single posados). He'll happily take down/put up a tent too to show how easy it is.

I'll have the dims written down, and a tape measure in my hand... but the beds stay in the back of the motor full time any way... as do tables, chairs, holey mats...

still breathing here - just,

have been very busy emailing in english and dutch ( thankyou google translate! ) to variuos sellers in holland.

its funny ...

a while ago some of you may remember me driving from one end of the country to another to pickup a dishawasher id bought online.

it ended up a great deal.

but what i remember from it is that some folks on here would hardly walk to the end of their street to collect something ( well almost ).

the thoughts of horror of even leaving their county to buy something - omg - disaster in the making!!!

well im an adventurous type and love planning a trip!

so as you all know i wont be happy till iv got my Karsten tent and so iv been on the various karsten websites ( yes i mayb buy new but its a last resort ) otherwise iv seen some lovely deals online.

so im waiting to hear back from some marktplaats sellers of some nice karsten tents and iv been on the dfds website looking at ferry availabiltiy to holland!.

im getting very excited! im not sure how this will all turn out but im rather hoping something like this:-
to find the perfect green karsten in holland, pop over on the ferry, drive to the town, buy said tent, goto nearest campsite and stay for 2 or 3 nights then head back.

a trip to go outdoors in the local town no longer excites me im sorry to say - i want something more!

kind of but not much of an update.

basically this:-

i can buy the tent i really like over in holland 2nd hand about 6 years old with all the canopies and extensions for the price of a brand new pod here in uk.

so my choices are :-

goto holland this week and buy a used tent with all the canopies extensions.

or buy a brand new pod only here and add the extensions as i feel i need them.

at least iv narrowed down the pod size and the colour.
easy bit done!

now decisions decisions!

It's so tough isn't it! We had exactly the same scenario (I think our outfit is 6 years old too) but went with the second hand route as with the 4 of us I knew we'd need the awnings straight away in the UK weather. In addition, I'm selling all other tents due to needing money (to fund purchasing the Karsten) and space (to store all!). I am happy with the route we took but the 5 year guarantee on a new pod is very tempting.

Having bought tents second hand before I wasn't too worried-not sure I'd bother buying a used polyester but have purchased several polycotton & canvas tents.

I suppose it just depends how quickly you want the set up. For me I needed all at once, so was even prepared to compromise on the colour. If you can wait then perhaps go for new.

Oh... And ignore my challenge of a race... that was, of course, tongue in cheek, and besides, not only will I not be doing anything about it until September, I don't even know WHICH September, yet!!

I'm not normally one for buying "used", in all honesty, and am also in the very fortunate position of being able to afford new, but faced with the equation of "Everything I want now (Used) v brand new pod only", I'm pretty certain Muckerette would be doing her very best to talk us into that trip to Holland, in the hope that all was "As advertised".
She is the sensible one, when all said and done!

Good luck... I don't envy your current position... but I do envy the fact you are almost there!!
