After spending weeks reading on tents and varying my budget and requirements, I thought I'd go back to basics and ask for recommendations.
I'm looking for a basic tent for summer use for 2 adults and 2 kids (7 and 3). Space for a labrador would be a bonus.
I'm thinking Hi Gear Rock 5 as reasonable price.
Ideally, the tent would have:
2 bedrooms
30 min max pitch time between two
Porch
Carpet
Footprint
Comfortably sized living area and able for a 6'2" me to stand up in
(I've discounted the steel poles and polycotton outer as this is unrealistic given my budget).
£200/£250 budget for something to sling in the boot and go away for weekends.
Any help appreciated.

We have a rock 5 for two, which we love but... we took the grandchildren (11 & 4) away with us last bank holiday and would advise to look for something bigger! 11 year old slept in the small bedroom and littleone in with us on our big airbed, and that was tight, no space for anything else in the bedrooms. We had to keep clothes in living space at night and dress in there as well. Sorry can't suggest an alternative but will watch with interest as OH is hell bent on up sizing so he can play camping granddad again!

In all honesty I would try for something really decent second hand like this kampa filey 6 classic on ebay. Far far more tent for your money and polycotton as well.
------------- April- rosetta 3 nights
May - walled garden 3 nights
June- ??
July- monkey tree 14 nights

Thanks for your suggestions. The Filey looks as though it would take some time to pitch so I think we'd then become less likely to just head out camping.
The Lugano looks interesting so I'll do more research on pitching time and will update.
Similar to the rock 5 is the gelert corona 6 and only £71.25 at the moment. If its the same colour as last year it should be a colour match with any of the gelert side porches (I bought an Evora porch for ours) or the gelert large porch £70 should be a good fit, the ottawa 6 carpet £27 should be a very close fit and a cheap tarp cut to size would work as a footprint.
Hello Kingbroady we are after a very similar tent to use for a couple of festivals and weekend camping. We like the kampa croyde 4 which is a little over your budget at £350 but we are also considering the kampa carbis 5, you get a lot more bedroom space for your money and it has a built on canopy and comes in within budget at £229!! Bargain I thought.
