was so nice out i thought id get the Bear Lake 4 out for an airing and a pitch and picnic!
omg its tearing me up to think of selling this tent seeing as one sold on ebay for only 250.00 other night
its such a rigid and strong tent having the longitudinal roof bars that very few other tents have.
could i possibly justify keeping this after thursday???
even with quite a breeze blowing at one point the Bear Lake was solid and steady as a rock with only 3 guylines pegged in - and these were only to stop the front canopy from falling onto the tent - not actually helping the tent in anyway.
those longitudinal roof poles make this tent sooo sturdy and rigid. ( why Outwell did you remove them from the current lake tents??? )
tent was up, a nice lunch and sat in the sun!
took photos to use for selling this soon

I'd keep it Hanks. You've only just got it and sourced different inners etc right?
It's also worth having another tent for a couple of reasons. My main one is that I'd still like to camp in the odd wooded area - but would't really like to have the Karsten under the trees for bird poo etc.
At the moment we have a Kampa Woolacombe 6 - not that great in my opinion and I will look to change at some point. Ideally I'd get a Biscaya 370 in ASP but they rarely crop up and are a bit older.
The new HiGear range has me tempted - they seem to be thick, possibly 150D polyester but also he bedrooms are way deeper than most - handy for camp beds. That's the worst bit about the Kampa.

at basichendo - i was in Go the other day picking up some recliners that were on offer.
they had their own brand of inflateables in there and the one by the door - wow, what a large tent, the head height is unbelievable - very high!. and its also very wide - it was reduced to 699.99 - price of a couple of awnings for the karstens!.
the material like you say was quite thick - certainly a step up from previous hi gear tents.
still not sure id buy one though esp when iv got the bear lake 4 to play with and yes, i like it very much!.

Hey Hankakampa
I have to say I really don't like, and am quite disappointed about the new 'cheaper looking' Bear lake models with the less space-usable sloping front and the unnecessary way-over-large (money saving no doubt) windows - what you have there is a cracking classic, I'm keeping mine and gonna look after it to last for many years, it's the best IMO

Sell it J you know you dont need it anymore and its old fashioned and out of date which really doesnt suit the lifestyle of a virile camper like your good self
