Tents are best to been seen in store. To get an idea of how much space you need, normally bigger thn what you think.
Will you need to be able to stand? Can you all sit in on a rainy day?
Where you buy from after that will be up to you.
As of other stuff car boots, second hand shops even for a tin opener.Any family/friends getting rid of stuff?
Iv had some good bargains from car boots and the fun of finding a bargain.
Are there any selling sites near you on Facebook?Preloved and Ebay.

Buy your tent and your beds and a lot of the other stuff can come from home. For example you don't really need sleeping bags - you can take normal bedding from home. You can take saucepans etc from home and if you don't want to take your plates you can buy cheap plastic ones from discount shops. You can also get things like stoves and camping chairs from discount shops too. The thing is, once you are up and running you can upgrade these things one by one. You should probably hold fire buying the best of everything in case this camping lark isn't for you.

The tent is worth researching and looking in at a tent display - and for beds I recommend if you're going to use an airbed (this isn't the only type of camping bed you can get) is to take something like a foil backed picnic blanket to put under it.

As you need something in particular, come back to us here for a recommendation on that item.

Just out of interest, why would you put a foil backed blanket under an airbed?

For insulation any extra layers between floor & airbed & airbed & yourself. will make it warmer.

Insulation from the cold coming up through the ground and airbed

i use a large tent carpet folded 4 fold on the tent floor, then the airbed on top and then the electric blanket on top of that and then the sleeping bag. - better than my bed at home!

but as others said - it keeps the cold from coming up from the ground, transferring into the airbed and keeping it cold.
