Seen the Hi Gear Frontier 8 in Go at £599 and loved the space but not familiar with the brand and have no idea on quality, value for money, longevity of the tent or it's competition.
Probably opening a can of worms as I'm sure everyone will have a different opinion or own preference but would welcome some advice, guidance or direction toward reviews of this tent and similar alternatives.

It does look a great tent if not a bit wide
You might struggle on some campsites as the pitch size normally include the guy lines
I've owned hi gear tents in the past and we loved the voyager 6 with no problems but as with the majority of tent brands there will always be faulty ones that come through
The only tent we've owned roughly the same size was the Outwell Vermont xlp and that was awesome great quality and features maybe worth looking at

We have the Maritsa 700, which is mahoosive.
We like it because it has the integral porch, and there's absolutely loads of space.
Downsides, like Paul and Kate said, the Maritsa is also really wide and so won't fit on some pitches, or you have to pay a supplement.
It's also REALLY heavy. I can't actually lift the bag with the poles in it.
Hi,
We have a Vango Salonga 900 .
Suits us great as a family ( only 4 of us ) great space for kids to have their own privacy too.
We are selling this tent ( for sale here & a few internet sites ) as we have now purchased a Karsten & can't keep all 3 tents ( also have an Easycamp Kos 6 which my daughter & her family want to use ).
It is a big tent & have only had 1 time where we had to pay extra £10 on top of the initial pitch fee. So not all site charge extra you just have to look in to each sites conditions.
The pack size is large & its very heavy if you keep tent/ inners /carpet & poles together.
There are many tents out there best to get a look in the flesh so you can see exactly what would suit you & your family.
Happy hunting.

Your in Essex so get in your car and visit Allweathers, Camping and General, Camperite and Go... You are spoiled down there. Forget the web until you have physically seen the tents and outside on display on a windy day if possible. If a tent is 550cm wide you want it to be good as that's a wide span. I still think the Kampa Croyde 6 or 8 are some of the best value family tents about.
------------- Gary Cross - The masked camping guru.
The croyde 8 is a fabby big tent. We have the vango monte verde 900 which is brilliant, rock solid in the wind and loss of room with its internal porch. The signature blue isn't to everyone's taste though lol.
------------- April- rosetta 3 nights
May - walled garden 3 nights
June- ??
July- monkey tree 14 nights
remember too - a big tent like those is hard to heat / keep warm esp when its cold and at nights you might not find it very comfortable! theres a limit too on campsite ehu supplies so you cant just plug in as many heaters on as you like!
something to bear in mind esp if you have kids! biggest isnt always the best!

Hi pressgang,
For the last 4 years we been using a vango kura 800, fab tent and heavily used in that time so it was time for a new one. Opted for the
hi gear nimbus 8, just came back from a week away and found it a great alternative, easy to put up, plenty of space and withstood all the weather !
Good luck on your choice
We have an Outwell Hartford XXL tent, footprint, carpet and front porch extension, all in pristine condition. We have used this tent each year for the last four or five years for a weeks holiday. It is the best tent we have ever come across, come rain, wind or shine. It has been well looked after and has always been cleaned and packed away dry. Last year we got a good deal on another tent. Our daughter leaves for University in September and we need to down-size - the tent is a bit big for three of us. If anyone is interested, it will be a bargain to someone - too big to post though! We put it up last summer to take photos and say goodbye (sad!) which are available to anyone who wants to see them.

Highly recommend the Kampa Filey Air 6... I'm going to be brave and go on ahead of my hubby on Friday and he's going to come with friends after work...gulp, have to put it up on my own!! Could be interesting......
