Hi everyone,

our new Maritsa has just arrived and we are hoping to put it up this evening. Was hoping for any top tips current/previous owners might have before we start.

Also we are unable to locate either a footprint or carpet for this tent but it ticked so many of our boxes we had to have it. We are going to attempt to make our own footprint - I understand it should be smaller then the tent - does it need to go under the porch area? I'm not sure if this has a SIG or removable one.

Has anyone found a suitable alternative carpet anywhere for it? Thinking of just buying the vango tent carpets and make do.

Thank you in advance.

Attwools are making their own carpets

Don't know if this will work, but could you buy a Maritsa 700 footprint and downsize it? There were some on eBay selling for around £50.

The tent has a fully sewn in groundsheet, but a footprint will offer you further protection.

Thank you so much - that is great.

I thought it had a fully SIG but I saw a video of how to put it up and the porch area was separate.

Thanks again

We had a 700 bought in 2012 and it was fully sewn in ..

I *think* older models didn't have a sewn in porch groundsheet.

Don't follow Vango's pitching instructions/video and you'll be fine!

Had a Maritsa 700 for 4 years and by far the easiest and quickest pitching method was the yeomans method shown here. I know its not a Maritsa in the video but the principle applies to nearly every steel poled tunnel tent out there. So much easier than vango's way!

Totally agree with Gareth - last time we used our Maritsa we tried this (after 2 years of rowing and fall outs pitching) and it went like a dream!!

Also use the Yeomans method on our Maritsa 700, no more arguments...

We used to use 2 huge tarps as a footprint, before we purchased one. Ours used to stick out a bit but did the job fine.
