Found a lovely CampFeuer tent that seems to tick all the boxes for our needs. But as it is a German manufacturer I can't find any reviews. Has anyone got any feedback?

The one I am particularly interested in is the Modern 2 cabin tunnel tent.

Many thanks

update: German instructions, snapped fiber glass pole and a torn seam.
Also a big gap between groundsheet and tent so very exposed to the elements and noisy.

Resulted in cutting our losses and heading home. I'm just greatful we opted for a local trial run.
Reserved an urban escape atago 5 man from halfords....just wish I'd seen this before the campfeuer.

Bazmark Have you seen the Urban Escape, all I'm getting at is you are buying tents unseen and from places that are not camping shops. If you want a bike or some car parts I'm sure Halfords are great but why not visit a camping store that has lots of tents pitched with staff who can help.

Hi Gary, thanks for the advice we headed to GO with the kids this morning and discussed what we wanted with a staff member who showed us the range that they had already pitched up outside and walked away with a Vango Icarus 500 which was on offer.
Looking forward to our trip next weekend!

thanks again for the advice

Baz

The price of the Campfeuer tents are a little too good to be true, aren't they? Same mistake as I made with the Skandika. Great size and layout, awful quality.

Yup, usually if the price seems too good to be true then that will be the case. A high HH means nothing if the seams are rubbish and unsealed, the poles are flimsy and the basic design is just lacking in terms of gaps where you don't want them.

You have made a good choice of a reliable make now, so go and enjoy!

Hi.. I'm surprised at the negative comments about the Campfeuer tent. Ours is a 6 man 5000 model. The quality is outstanding and has been used extensively. Its easy for two to erect (even in a wind), no gaps or problems. The poles are strong, flexible and replacements easily obtained from Kampa. I bought some spares off eb*y just in case but so far no problems. The tent is great, even in bad weather and the roof vent lets us cook extensively indoors. Total bargain at £200.. Cheers.. Steve

Meant to say too that as its so well sealed, we don't use the bedroom. We just put the double airbed at the back, with rugs each side and bedside cabinets and a sofa at the foot. This leaves us tons of room for everything else. Total and good sealing keeps the elements and bugs out. Last year we spent in total 8 weeks sleeping in it at various sites and events. Any problems are more to do with inexperience in erecting tents/pegging than the quality. For example, not adding silicon grease to new zippers will risk tearing and damage to the zips..

Not meaning to be a bit sceptical but in over 40 years of camping I have never seen someone put silicon grease on their zips. Chapstick on lightweight tent zips especially in winter - yes. Running a pencil along metal zips - yes but putting silicon grease? Also, do you know why there is an inner? Condensation. If your camp feuer is so well sealed it must be dripping with condensation. A bedroom inner is just like the inner of a tent with a fly. Finally, the roof vent and cooking indoors????? Terrible advice and possibly lethal.

Silicon grease is a wonderful substance. Ideal for all kinds of waterproof lubrication that doesn't have reactive risk. Get it from curtain/haberdashery shops/ or Maplins. Chapsticks are petroleum like Vaseline or WD40 and will degrade a plastic zip or anything like that. There is no condensation at all in our tent due to the large, vented, double skinned roof. Size wise, its 5mx4mx2m high. Tons of room for attended gas and electric cooking (Kampa hot plate usually). Cheers.. Steve and Michelle (seasoned campers for many years!)

Beeswax chapsticks are what I was referring to.
I still say that cooking inside is a no no on so many grounds, not just the obvious safety ones. I've also never had to lube any zip on a new tent. Why do you recommend it for a campfire?

Hi..
A lot of tent/awning zippers these days are nylon and being brand new, this means they can be a bit stiff and if a tent isn't pegged carefully, or too tightly, it can actually make a zipper hard to zip up requiring a bit of force with the obvious results in that it tears the seam or pulls the zipper apart.
Beeswax is good, but being wax, it simply melts away on a hot day. Silicon grease is clear, non harmful to plastics or nylon and stays put.
In my profession as a biomedical physicist, we have found silicon grease to be an ideal and inert lubricant for all manner of uses and a perfect 'apply and forget' treatment for new zips and other important places! Not the first time I've helped out a fellow camper with similar zipping issues.
It also works on/in seams that appear to be leaking (my previous Coleman Tent!!)
I'm not selling this stuff, I'm only passing on some useful advice..
Cheers,
Steve

My other contentious device is an old Puritan Bennett 318 CPAP machine with its pressure setting maxed out to 40cmh2o which we use as a mattress/sofa inflator (30secs!)
Anyone with sleep apnoea issues will know what this is.
