Hi we are new to camping. A week in Cornwall last year had us hooked. Been twice since and looking to buy a bigger tent to really get into it!
We've looked and read and looked again. We need more living space than our regatta 4 man tent. Do you think the Montana 6p is too big for a couple who are at the moment camping for three nights at a time?
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
As many people on here have said before, you can never have too much room, whether or not its too big is a personal thing, we would only use our Monty for 4 nights or more, but ours is polycotton and is not quite as easy/quick to pitch as the polyester version. We had a 5 man airbeam tent for the 2/3 day excursions but found the space limiting, we have now bought a 5m Bell tent which is ridiculously quick and easy to put up, this has replaced the airbeam, and ultimately (with a tarp awning) will replace the Montana. Its down too how much time you want to spend setting up and taking down, relative to how long your away. But I personally don't think the polyester Monty would be too much of a faff for 3 day trips, but no less. Hope that helps! :-)
I think it depends how much stuff you take and what you are doing. We have used our Montana 6P for several weekends in the first year we got it (2012).
I love the space it gives (especially if weather is rubbish) but we mostly use our tents for a "base" when we explore an area, so don't spend too much time in it.
It takes us 3-4 hours to pack away, so we only use this for 4 or more nights now. We have just got a Hi-Gear Gobi Elite 4 to use as a weekend / Bank Holiday Weekend tent.
