Hi
We use an outwell wolflake7 for our holiday tent it's great 48 hours of torrential rain last year and we where warm and dry. Stands like a rock in high wind.

Our only issue it's big and heavy to put up our record for set up is 4 hours with cupboards and beds kitchen etc.

So we want a smaller light weight weekender tent just for two or three nights. Must have head height front room and two beds but be light and quick to put up doesn't have to be two tough as we won't be going unless weather girl says scorchio!

Would love a vango airbeam but even used there to much money just for a few nights a year.

Cheers

John

One of my favs this year for a medium sized family tent is the Vango Meadow v 600. Its super quick to pitch and its a tough little tent being steel framed. The problem is if you go to small after the Wolf lake you will hate it.

what takes the longest. Putting up the tent or putting all the cupboards up and filling full of stuff. So my suggestion is use the same tent, leave out the carpet (if you use one) and put your stuff in soft holdalls or bags for life instead. Only take a chair per person and take one table and cook on it as well as eat on it.

Hi
Thanks will look at the meadow

Campernic we will strip down set up . But it is the tent as it's huge and poly cotton just getting laid out is a chore then fitting poles is tedious, but ths hoof up is a thing of nightmares .

Can't fault the tent but if you want big and solid it has to be large and heavy .

Cheers
John

weekend camping and to me - basic camping is so much more fun than humphing up ( my old BL6 ) a big heavy tent.

and i know not everyones the same!

but for me, just 2 little tables, 1 to cook on other to put things down on, 1 chair, airbed, sleeping bag, pillow.

coolbox with food, kitchen box with pot, frying pan, 2 plates, 2 cups and 1 large glass!

im setup in 30 minutes with my drink in hand. i, personally would have to give up camping if it took 4 hours - no matter how much a home from home it gave me!. and to have that looming in reverse at the end of the holiday - omg - id be thinking about it days before end of hols how to pack up!.

also for me, i dont want to feel im at home, when im camping im back to basics and its the ease of it all that i love.

i wish you luck in finding a nice weekend tent and slimming down the whole caboodle into a quick easy set up and have that drink in your hand sooner rather than in 4 hours!

or, is that why it takes 4 hours? drinks are flowing along the way?

Hi
No no drinks other than rehydration from the effort.

We have two small children and two dogs so can't go all ray mears.

We also figured that by getting a full glamping set up we would enjoy it more and be more keen .

It's working look forward to our holiday but it wouldn't be worth setting up wolflake fot two nights.

John

we too are toying with the idea of getting a weekend tent. since we got the vermont xlp we have stopped camping on the weekends altogether now going a few week long trips instead. i do miss going for long weekend but while the vermont is easy to pitch it takes a lot of effort not so easy with a kid in toe now also.

the other problem we have is we live in a top floor flat and all our stuff has to be stored in the loft so has to all come down stairs and have to have one of use looking after the car as the traffic wardens are very nasty and give you a ticket even if your loading witch is meant to give you unlimited time in our road. they just say tough appeal the ticket as they work on commission.

We have a 6 berth polycotton for 3 or more nights and a Vango Icarus 500 for 1 or 2 nights. We are a family of 4. In the Icarus we still use our camp beds so I sleep in sleeping pod with the boys and husband sleeps in living area. We take kettle, small lamp, one table, 4 chairs, cool box and minimal plates etc. We are trying to avoid cooking and figure that we can probably get fish and chips etc. for a couple of nights.

Space is definitely a lot tighter but it is only for max of 2 nights so not too much of an issue.

Our 6 berth has set up of up to 2 hours. The Icarus is around 30-40 mins.
