I have been browsing your site for some time now but have joined today.
I haven't been camping for many a year, but now I am retired, in fact my wife and myself are 70 now, we are seriously thinking of giving it another go in our twilight years. Are we daft? is it really a young persons thing, or are any other members in the same position as us and still enjoying camping.
We have been looking seriously at the Vango Icarus Air 500 Inflatable Family Tent as sold at Go Outdoors link. The thinking behind this is that being an inflatable tent it will be easier for us to handle and erect. We also have to buy all the associated equipment.
It will be used for occasional weekends away, as well as maybe for a couple of weeks touring around, so we will be moving from site to site.
Can I ask if you have any opinions on what we are planning and our choice of tent, or do you have a preference in make and model.
I thank you all in advance for taking the time to read this.

We have been camping Tents for many yeas I myself am 76 years young my OH is a little younger but she is partly disabled and gone to a two person TT give it try good luck
If your thinking of an inflatable Tent, have a look at the Karsten range, far superior to any other inflatable Tent on the market, and very much favoured by the Dutch who are avid Tent campers.
The air pressure in the inflatable tubes on the Karsten is 4 times that of Vango Tents and others, that alone gives far more rigidity to the Karsten Tents over there competitors.
We will probably move over to a Karsten Tent if we can't pull of our dream of owning a caravan, we are currently at 54 so will be making that decision when we hit 60.
In the meantime the Cabanon will have to make do, and to be fair is a Tent that I can pitch on my own, but I can foresee a time when it will become too much like hard work.

Thank you for your comments, its appreciated. At least I know we are not alone in going camping at our age. I've taken on board your thoughts and suggestions and am looking around further now at the items we need.
