Relatively new to camping and then tent we have bought is a big frame tent. Namely the Antares 5 tent from Obelink.
Now the question I have is what tips any of you have to keep this sort of tent a bit warmer. It's not terribly cold, but we do like to be cosy. I know some of you have cabanon frame tents that are very similar.
There are very few instructions with the tent with it being Dutch so I assumed all the flaps around the tent are meant to be folded in into the inside of the tent. I was tempted to put eyelets in these so I could peg them down? that shouldn't cause any problems should it? I was also thinking if a carpet atop the groundsheet would make any difference.
As a last resort and I wasn't sure weather I was being dumb, but the bedrooms in the tent have a nice sown in ground sheet but the rest of it is made out of this thin netting material which seems to let way too much air circulate. I wondered if the tent would be nicer to sleep in i.e. warmer without having to take as much bedding - if I didn't use the rooms and simply bought 2 small cheap pop-up tents which would keep the heat in a lot more.

Hi, I have two canvas tents and neither has a sewn in groundsheet. I just tuck the flaps underneath the ground sheet and then place a carpet over the top. If it gets extra windy, I just place boxes/furniture around the edge of the tent and that stops all drafts. I don't bother pegging down the flaps and I find the ground sheet and carpet keep them in place. Hope this helps.
I have the Hypercamp Eldorado and have only used it a couple of times but I find that the mud flaps tuck under to form a good seal. I put down a cheap tarp first and pitch on that. The bedroom has its own sewn in groundsheet and the living area has a separate one, but the mud flaps are so deep that there's plenty of overlap. It poured for hours the other night without any water getting in so it's an effective seal.
As for the inner tent, we've noticed that it's significantly warmer than the canvas bell tent which doesn't have an inner - quite stuffy in fact, although it's a thin polycotton. It's surprising how effective that second layer is.
I think it might just be us and poor pitching. We put a tarp down first and then put the tent up, but the tarp was exact in size to the tent, so we didn't fold the flaps under the tarp, that was probably the issue. Good job it didn't rain or it probably would've flooded! ;)
Might invest in a carpet though to keep it a bit snug.

I have tucked the flaps under a tarp that is pegged down but I put the tarp down once the tent is up and place the bedroom inners ontop of the tarp. I tuck the flaps under the tarp then use a breathable groundsheet ontop of the tarp as the "carpet" - well its warmer and softer under foot and weighs the tarp down to stop billowing in the wind. The secret is to have the tarp a little bit smaller than the actual tent.
You can actually buy cotton inner tents for frame tents or awnings. Argos sold some a few years back but if not perhaps hunt down some frame tent suppliers and see if they can order them in from Cabanon or similar. My inners were never net - always cotton.

Same here, tuck flaps under the tarp in our Cabanons. We use a heavier tarp though, its pond liner cut to size. Our carpet goes on top in the living area plus I do like to put a rug in the bed pod. I like the fact iI can walk into the bed pod, so that would rule out any pop up for me, as would the fact I now need to use a camp bed due to dodgy knee.
Edit. If its really cold at night we have EHU normally so the fZn heater comes out on a low setting.

If you contact the camp shops and ask for an ex display ground sheet for the likes of an outwell large tent. Cut to size plus an overlap of say 6 inches to go up the sides.attach Velcro to the back sections of the groundsheet and the tent and Velcro the6 inches overlap to the sides of the tent
I make a groundsheet club sandwich, cheap B&Q tarp, mud flaps, heavy duty taps (just ordered new one from Taupaulins direct after OH used old one to mix concrete ), breathable groundsheet to make it warmer underfoot, bedroom inner, then all toped off with groundsheet pegs.
