We are still in love with the Concorde L. But I always wanted a side extension yet refused to pay the price for the Outwell version. I wanted an inflatable extension, and looked long and hard before taking a punt on the current Vango air beam side extension.

In short, it fits. At less than £200 I'm delighted and don't feel that we compromised. We use it predominately for cooking and storage given that our youngest is of the age where I like to keep the kitchen "cordoned off".

Something we noticed was the shade / no shade effect of the poly cotton versus polyester (or whatever the Vango is made out of) - we were surprised at the difference in temperature.

Also, the fit is good enough for ventilation when cooking or running a gas fridge to be a problem - appropriate caution (including CO2 detector in our case) must be considered.

There are some photos if anyone's interested.

Sorry about the photos: I thought they'd appear here but alas not.

The extension was the Infinity 600/800 Air Beam Side Extension.

I bought from e bay - from one of the traders there (new and in its box). Can't remember which but could look back when I get in front of my PC.

With regard to the fitting, I stood looking at it and am sure I could've put it up better - it was a bit rushed. It has a detachable ground sheet , by the way.

WobblyBob12, please could I ask you a separate question about your Concorde? Apologies as this is not related to the side extension. Have you found a way to clean bird muck off the roof of the tent without it leaving a stain, with it being light grey I have not had any success in this department!

Jim,

I so don't want to tempt fate, but I'm yet to have that particular problem. I hear that Outwell sell some cleaner. I'd be interested in seeing how you get on... Good luck!

Ours took a direct hit on day 1 of it's life! (Not under trees). I ordered some of the Outwell cleaner (Clean Guard) to try on the existing stain and also on any new ones, will report back once tried (this may not be until the tent next gets used). I did however do a test spray on an old cotton shirt to see what happened, the instructions on the can say to spray on, wipe in with your finger and then wipe off with a damp cloth after 2 mins. Did this and once dry there was a residue mark on the shirt which was not there before!! Not a true test I know as it was not on the polycotton fabric, but I'm a bit sceptical now. Don't want to make it worse as it's right over the porch where you walk in :( Shame the tent bags are not polycotton anymore, would have tested in on that!
